Two Examples of When a High Deductible Insurance Plan Is a Good Idea

A high deductible insurance plan is among the lowest cost healthcare insurance policies available on the market. However, they are not for everyone. Basically, your annual deductible is much higher than other policies. In fact, it is considerably higher than other deductibles on the order of a few thousand dollars. However, before you cringe at the thought of a high deductible, you should think about who benefits from this type of insurance. The following are two good examples.

You are young and healthy
People in this category are at low risk. Insurance companies love to have them in group health coverage plans because they are not expensive to maintain. There are few claims, but they are paying the same as others in a group plan. What young people are doing, of course, is subsidizing everyone else in the group. However, if you are young and need to buy insurance on your own, you can purchase a high deductible, low cost policy. Any typical health issues that come about to a normally healthy person can be taken care of out of your own pocket. If you experience a health issue the requires an extended stay in the hospital, your bills will be limited to the deductible. A young person who is in good health and takes care of themselves, will enjoy lower health insurance premiums.

You are only a few years from retirement and are healthy
When you reach the age of 65, you will be eligible for Medicare. This is a great insurance plan, and there is really nothing that can compete with it, but if you are a few years away from the age of 65 and find yourself without health insurance, a high deductible plan may be exactly what you need. This is especially true if you have a significant amount of assets. By having a high deductible plan, you will be protected from extremely high medical bills that likely will force you to sell your assets and may lead to a bankruptcy. For someone in their late 50s or early 60s, this type of insurance plan can serve as a bridge to Medicare. A health insurance lodi ca agency can provide further information about high deductible plans.

Protect Your Family and Pets

If you're a dog owner, it's a good idea to invest in organic tick control products. These are a few reasons why this is so important.

Protect Your Pets from Ticks

The first reason why it's a good idea to buy tick control products when you're a dog owner is so that you can protect your four-legged family member from the dangers of ticks. Dogs are very prone to picking up ticks when they're outside, and the ticks can cause them to get very sick. Focusing on pest control products now can help you keep your dogs safe.

Protect Your Family from Ticks

Of course, you don't just have to worry about your dog becoming sick because of ticks; you have to worry about your human family members getting sick, too. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time outside or if your dogs come in the house, since they can bring ticks in on their fur.

Avoid Using Harmful Products

It might be obvious to you why you should use some type of tick control product to get rid of the tick problem in your yard and home. However, what you might not be sure of is why you should use organic tick control products specifically. After all, you might have seen a lot of tick control products that are not organic, and you could be wondering if any of them would work. Even though some of these products might be effective in helping with killing ticks, they could be dangerous for you and your family. This is especially true if you have dogs, since dogs are prone to eating grass, digging in the dirt and participating in other activities that might put them in contact with pest control products. There is also a big cause for concern if you have children who might play outside where the products have been used. If you use the right organic tick control products, then you can help prevent your kids and pets from being exposed to these dangerous chemicals. This can help keep everyone safe. As you can see, if you are a dog owner, it's a good idea to invest in tick control products that are organic. If you buy these products now, you can help ensure that your family can enjoy these benefits.

Top Three Places to Visit in Tombstone, Arizona

Located in southeastern Arizona, Tombstone is known for its colorful history filled with gunfights, famous lawmen, and booming casinos. It is a great town to visit throughout the year, and there are plenty of sites that the entire family will enjoy. Here is a look at three amazing places to check out next time you make your way to this iconic town.

Bird Cage Theater

This Wild West casino and brothel was operated 24 hours a day from 1881 to 1889, and it was often referred to as one of the most wicked establishments in the state. Visitors can now tour the Bird Cage Theater to learn more about what life was like as a professional gambler in Arizona. On various dates throughout the year, visitors can sign up for “haunted” walking tours that start at this casino.

O.K. Corral

Very few events in American history are as memorable and iconic as the gunfight at the OK Corral. This shootout occurred in 1881, and it is one of the major events that put Tombstone on the map. Currently, tourists can watch reenactments of the shootout or sign up for guided tours of the area. Once you are done watching the gunfight, you can take a stagecoach over to Doc Holiday's Saloon or the Four Deuces Saloon for a cold drink and a meal.

Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park

Tombstone Courthouse is another historic site that tourists won’t want to miss while visiting this town. It was turned into a state park in 1959, and the building recently became a dedicated museum that is home to a wide variety of artifacts and relics. Unlike many other local sites, the Tombstone Courthouse only has self-guided tours, and that means you can wander around at your own pace. The city of Tombstone occasionally hosts celebrations and other events on the lawn as well.
Tombstone is just one of the many amazing places to visit in southeastern Arizona. In addition to this Wild West town, you might also want to consider stopping by Monument Valley, Phoenix, Grand Canyon Village, and Antelope Canyon.

Chillin' at SM

Went to SM Urdaneta to buy an ink for our printer and also buy some groceries. This was over a month ago . Hubby stayed home because he was not feeling well. Little brother drove for me and my niece went with us. While roaming around on the second floor, I saw this store with nice display of plastic flowers so I asked my brother to take photos of me. I love flowers, real or not. Li'l brother takes good pictures so I just posed and posed while he clicked and clicked my phone's camera. Sorry if you get tired looking at my face. It's just one of those days that I got nothing to do.

Three Tips To Get Your House Ready for the Fall

Are you enjoying the change of the seasons, from summer heat to the cooler nights of autumn? There are many great things to love about the fall, such as the holiday festivities, the changing colors of the leaves, and the delicious vegetables that are in season. However, the fall also brings with it a lot of weather that can be detrimental and even dangerous to your home. Luckily, there are some very simple steps that you can take starting today to get your home in good shape for the season.

First of all, it's important that you prepare your home for the cold weather that is approaching. If you're lucky enough to have a fireplace, make sure that it is very clean and ready to be used. Consider hiring chimney sweeps Baltimore MD to make sure that your chimney is clean and safe for use. Also, check your heating system make sure that it is in good repair. Replace your air filters so that they work as well as possible to keep your indoor air clean. Check your hot water heater to make sure that it is working as intended so that you never worry about a freezing shower on an autumn morning.

Next, check the exterior of your home to make sure that it is ready to deal with potential fall and winter storms. Is your roof in good shape with no leaks? Even a small leak in the fall can turn into a major problem, thanks to the dangers of black mold and mildew, which can form from just a small amount of water. Make sure that your gutters are clean so that they don't spill over and cause flooding around your home. If your roof or gutters need to be repaired, do so now before the weather gets worse.

Finally, make sure that your home is ready to welcome guests. Keep your front steps clear of debris and make sure your walkway is safe for everyone. Then, invite your loved ones to celebrate the beauty of fall at home.

Before Staying At A Beach Rental

Instead of staying in a cramped hotel room when you take a vacation to the coast, consider one of the many house rentals on Bald Head Island. Before staying at just any beach rental and before you arrive at the home, there are a few tips that you can keep in mind so that you have the best vacation possible. When you find a rental home that you like, you should talk to the owner of the home a few months before the time you want to travel to see if there is any kind of deposit that you need to pay and to find out about the requirements of renting the home.

Figure out your budget before renting a vacation home. You need to think about any supplies that you will need for the home, such as linens that you want to get as well as food and drinks as well as cleaning supplies that you need. You also need to think about budgeting your time. There won't be a housekeeper who cleans your home like there would be at a hotel. Instead, you are responsible for keeping the home clean and ensuring that nothing is broken. If you have pets, then you need to find somewhere for them to stay while you are away from home.

Do your research about what is located near the home. Look at how far you have to travel to restaurants, shopping centers, and attractions compared to how far you would have to travel from a hotel. After talking to the owner of the home or the real estate agent, think about whether you can trust that person or not and if that person will be easy to work with instead of setting harsh limits about the home and what can be done inside while you're on vacation.

Bonsai Exhibit and Competition

I'm not into bonsai collection but my brother is. In fact, he got some bonsai collections that he planted from seeds and he's the one who trimmed and trained it all for almost 20 years now. Most of his bonsai plants are tamarind trees. They look so cool. He decided to join this Bonsai Exhibit and Competition last December and luckily his 2 bonsai trees got two gold awards in the local division. He was so ecstatic. His hard work paid off though he got no cash award, just plaque but the sense of fulfillment and pride that he felt is enough for him to compensate all his time and effort.

Bonsai trees are so pricey. It took the collectors or growers many years to wait, prune, trim and train/wire to make the plants into bonsai. Most of the bonsai masters and collectors are males. I had a good time looking at those bonsai trees that were on display during the exhibit and competition. Here are some of the pics we took. These bonsai plants are in the national division competition, They are so eye-catching and captivating. You might get tired looking at my face. Sorry about that. With me are my 2 nieces and my sis-in-law.

4 Ways to Reduce Strain On Your Air Conditioner

The hot summer months are tough on most air conditioners. The better you care for your system and provide for periods of rest, the better the cooling results. Below are four ways you can begin to reduce the strain on your air conditioner right away.

Get Your Insulation Levels Tested
The quality and amount of insulation in the ceiling and walls of your home can directly impact how warm or cool your home stays on a daily basis. A lack of proper insulation will allow the cool air from AC system to escape and make your HVAC system operate hard to keep up with the problem.

Smart Window Coverings
Daylight hours that allow full sun to stream through your windows can cause your home to heat up a great deal. Window tinting is one method of reducing this issue. You can also place heavy drapes over these windows and close them when the sun is pouring through the glass. It will make a nearly instantaneous difference.

Turn the Unit Off Occasionally
The goal of placing less strain on your air conditioner during the hotter summer months is to allow the system a chance to turn off and rest periodically. Turn the AC off when periods of rain showers hit and the air becomes cooler. Turn the AC if you are going to be gone and there are no pets depending on staying cool.

Keep Your Air Conditioner Well-Maintained
Call on experts for maintenance and ac repair Williamsburg VA to keep your system working well. Routine cleaning, filter changes, and repairs will allow your unit to run as efficiently as possible.
Avoid unexpected air conditioner breakdowns by doing a few things to allow periods of rest and less strain in operation. It allows you to get maximum lifetime use out of your HVAC system.

4 Tips To Preserve Beautiful Skin

Aging is a part of life. Everyone is going to get older. It can look pretty terrifying when many women try to freeze their looks and indulge in too much Botox. However, there are ways to naturally and gracefully age in a way that leaves you feeling young while honoring the age you've gained. Consider these four tips to preserve beautiful skin.

1. Watch the Vitamin D.
While it's nice to get out and enjoy a nice day, it's important to be cognizant of the damage the sun can do. Gone are the days where you can lazily lounge by the pool to tan. It's time to stop tanning because that is the quickest way to completely damage your skin. As the skin ages, it becomes more delicate. If you're going to be in the sun, always protect your skin with SPF lotion and wide-brimmed hats

2. Drink lots of water.
While laugh lines aren't bad, many women don't really like having them. A great way to minimize the appearance of laugh lines is through staying hydrated. Many make-up artists strongly encourage their clients to stay hydrated as it can reflect in the way the make-up gets applied. Sometimes, liquid foundations will settle in the laugh lines. If you're consistently hydrated, you have a better chance of minimizing the appearance of laugh lines.

3. Consider professional treatments.
Take note of the issues you're currently dealing with regards your skin. Some women experience skin that's more prone to peeling and dryness as they age. Other women deal with unstoppable wrinkles. There are treatments that you can use to combat that. There are lots of moisturizing facials for dryness. There's also red light therapy for wrinkles. No matter what your skin issues are, there's usually a remedy.

4. Get lots of rest.
As you age, your hormones will change and you'll tend to need a different amount of sleep. If you need more sleep to function, honor that. Don't try to overwork the body and do more than you can actually handle. Instead, get into bed before 11 pm and watch how much that changes your quality of life. Plus, when you're well-rested, you'll look well-rested.

Visiting Lake Whitney

Texas have quite a few man-made lakes but I only visited a couple of it. One is Possum Kingdom Lake and the second one is Lake Whitney. I was invited by my step-daughter Shelly and her hubby Robert to go drive around and see the lake. Oh, I love roaming around and see scenic views. How I wish hubby loves driving around and show me some scenic views in Texas but he is a homebody and prefers sitting in front of the tv. If only I can drive, I would have hit the road and explore the places I haven't seen. It's nice to go on vacation and see loved ones but staying in the house 24/7 will bore me to death. I need to see some other places too. I'm a blogger and I love writing about the places I've been not to mention I enjoy seeing God's wonderful creation.

First, we went to see Whitney Dam. According to my research, this is an earthen dam, 166 feet high, owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. We just stayed there for a while and stare at the view, so serene and some birds were flying around. We posed there and took some photos.

Then we went to see the lake. It so clean and well kept. Lake Whitney is a year-round destination for Texas residents due to the abundance of water sports and activities all ages can enjoy. It is also a camping ground and my step daughter said, they go here camping very often. I never experienced that too. We got no RV that's why and as I said, hubby is a homebody. Anyway, here are some pics we took there.

Downsizing Your Home

The Pros to Downsizing Your Home After Your Kids are Out of The House

When your kiddos are grown up and moved out, it might be time for you to consider downsizing to a smaller home. You may find that you and your spouse are happier in a smaller house with a better, more manageable layout. However, if you are struck with some hesitation about shaking off your kiddos’ childhood home, here are a few pros to downsizing your home after your children have moved out on their own.

Give Yourself Opportunities to Travel and See the World

You have the opportunities to travel now, see the world, and take getaways to wherever you and your sweetheart would love to go—sans youngsters. You could finally talk to a Florida Downeast yacht dealer or book a round-trip plane ride to an exotic paradise. Downsizing means less bills, which equals more cash for these kinds of bucket list experiences.

Increase and Improve Upon Your Existing Finances

Throughout your life, you have moments where you could improve upon your financial situations. And downsizing your home is one of those moments. When your kiddos have left home, you could sell out and move to somewhere nicer, smaller, and perfect for you and your loved one. This also gives you the chance to increase your income, because you no longer have to worry with the upkeep of kids and a family home.

More Time for Doing the Things You Love

Most parents have a problem with finding their true selves again after the kids have left home. After all, parents were what their jobs were for years—and now, it can be challenging to rediscover yourself, your interests, your hobbies, and your passions. Therefore, downsizing your home, and even decreasing your work hours, gives you the opportunity to focus more on yourself. Re-find your interests, reexamine your life, and refresh your memories of the things you loved doing before children were added to the mix.

Understandably, it’s hard when your kids move out. However, you can still have a life and a love for that life, especially when you make the decision to downsize your home and find new purpose in the things you love and what matters most to you.

Creating the Right Home Look

The look of a home is important. It matters to the homeowner or the renter. Visitors and guests can tell when a home is loved or despised. While a complete remodeling of a home can be very expensive, people can change the look of a home that an affordable price.

Wonderful Walls
The walls of a home can either hinder or help a desired look. Walls that feature faded or cracked paint can make a home look drab, dirty and unloved. Instead of keeping an old look, it may be time to remake the look of various walls. Walls can look marvelous when they are freshly painted. If the current colors are preferred, there is nothing wrong with keeping the colors but applying a new coat of paint. Wiping down walls before painting is an excellent way to get rid of cobwebs and dust.

Delightful Décor
Another helpful way to transform the look of a home is to replace specific décor. Lamps may need to be replaced. Discount retailers usually have sales on select lamps each week. At other times, all that a lamp needs is a new lampshade in order to give a new look to a room. Artwork has a way of giving style to a home. Works of art can feature classics from artists of the past. While some artwork can be pricey, other options can be considered. First, there are art fairs that are in numerous communities during the spring, summer and fall months. Be sure to stop by and discover unique works of art that are not seen anywhere else. Another option is a look at a secondhand store. While some may disapprove of that option, the reality is that many secondhand stores have unique pieces of art that are available at an affordable price.

The overall look of a home can be changed very quickly. Before making a change, make sure it is the right one. Whether people decide to go with rustic planks, quartz countertops or new wallpaper in a master bedroom, they can create the right look.

Visiting Dallas Arboretum

Had a great time visiting this very spacious and huge botanical garden, the Dallas Arboretum a couple of years ago. It was spring time in the 2nd of May when Sherry and I went there. It is a  nationally acclaimed 66 acre display garden and features breathtaking floral displays all year long. Nestled on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum was named "One of the Most Breathtaking Gardens in the World" by Architectural Digest. I love flower gardens, trees and well manicured lawns. What better way to ring in spring than to see lots of flowers in bloom?

The beauty of the flowers, the waterfall, the tranquility provides a very pleasant escape from the chaos of the outside world. We had fun seeing all the nice views, walking here and there and taking photos. I was not able to bring my DSLR camera so I had to use my mini ipad cam instead. I'm not really satisfied but better than nothing at all. The place is so huge and we had to walk most of the time, otherwise we rode their shuttle rides. Too much walking made my knees hurt afterwards. Made me realize I'm getting old. Though I got tired and knees hurting, still we had a good time.and let the photos speak for themselves..
