Helping A Girl

Hubby and I got a 12 year old girl in the house. Her name is Dominica. She's one of the kids that I teach in Sunday school class in our church and she come from a very poor family. Her father is a farmer and her mom is a stay-at-home wife taking care of her 4 young kids. Dominica's oldest sister used to work for my late sister and she helped her go to school too in her last year of high school. Now, she's working in Manila as a maid to help their family. Dominica will be in first year high school and her parents can't afford to send her to school. Their house is a way off to the public high school and they can't afford her fare and daily allowance. Hubby and I have seen how hard working she is because their house is just beside our church. She takes care of her 2 younger siblings and help in house chores. She is also very faithful in attending Sunday school since we started and very good in memory verses.

Hubby and I decided to help her by taking her to our house and help her go to school. I talked to her mother about it and of course to her and they agreed to my offer. She will come to the house, help me do house chores and in return, we will send her to school. Anyway, the public high school here is just a walking distance from our house and there's no tuition fee. Students are just required to just pay a small amount for the whole school year. We will give the girl a daily allowance for her snacks and if they have projects then we will buy it for her. We will buy her school supplies and uniforms too. She came to our house two weeks ago and  she's been helping me in doing house chores. She's very young but very willing to learn and very obedient. I gave her instructions in what to do in the house. I taught her how to pray before meals and now she's very good in it. I also encourage her to read her Bible in her spare time. We pray that we'll be a blessing to her and she'll be a blessing to us.

Favorite Dish

Hubby and I love sea foods. In fact, I prefer it more than meat. I love the Omega 3 that I get from it. I used to go to a nutritionist in Texas and she recommended to me to eat fish especially salmon and tuna. I have no problem with it because I love fish and I can eat it everyday. I don't have to worry about fats and cholesterol which I get from meats. The only drawback is that, salmon is pricey. This doesn't stop me from buying it though. There's this website where people can buy seafood online and they will deliver your order directly to your door the next day. Cool isn't it?

Just looking at those sea food photos online make me drool. It makes me want to cook again one of my favorite dish, Baked Salmon. My hubby love this dish and every time I cook it, it's always a hit. I got the recipe from one of my friends. She invited us one time in their house for dinner and she served this dish. It was really delicious so hubby requested me to ask for the recipe and I did. Since then, I've been cooking baked salmon every time I buy this fish. It's very nutritious and delicious and yummy to the tummy.

House Furniture

Finally, I was able to take some photos of our house the other day. I've been writing about the house renovation of our family home which we made into a duplex but never had the time to post some photos here. So, here are some pics that I took in our living room and kitchen the other day. We bought the living room set last month and I like the design.

The frames on the wall are my cross stitch works. I made them when I was still single when I was working at a public high school in our town. I remember almost all the teachers there were crazy doing cross stitch during their spare time. I still have 3 finished cross stitch works that need to be framed. Below is the 32 inch Sony LED tv that hubby hanged on the wall.

We were not able to buy a dining set because I didn't find one that will fit our house at the store where we bought our living room set. We only need a small set, just a 4 sitter because our space is just limited and hubby and I didn't find one that we like. We need to go see other stores but for now, we just settled with our old, round monobloc table and chairs for our dining room. The important thing is we have a chair and a table to sit and eat.

Bathroom Plumbing

So the plumbing work in our bathroom needs repair. It's newly installed but it looks like it's not done the right way. The pipe that goes to our water heater is leaking. I already asked my brother to fix it and he did but it still leaks. I guess it's my fault too because instead of hiring a professional plumber, I hired my brother instead who is a greenhorn. I relied on what he said that he knows how to do plumbing works. Also. I wanted him to earn some money too for his family so I hired him.

I should have known better, sigh! I should have hired a skilled plumber to do our bathroom like the ones I've seen online from plumbing calgary. I'm pretty sure they do a very good job and their customers will be completely satisfied. Unlike me, I'm so disappointed. Our bathtub is always wet because of the leak. Hubby said I need to ask again my brother to come and redo his work so we can get our money's worth. So guys, in case you want somebody to do your plumbing works, don't hesitate to hire a professional calgary plumber to do the job.Don't settle for anything less than the best. Take it from me.

What A Pain!

Early yesterday morning I tripped and fell in the pavement in our town market when I went to buy fruits. It hurt my right foot more than my ego. I had to stopped and composed myself before walking and buy bananas. Hubby was in the car waiting on me and he had seen what happened. We went home, showered then off we went to SM to buy groceries. First we did was to eat lunch at KFC because it was already lunch time when we reached the mall. Next, we went to the hypermarket to buy groceries. While walking, I felt slight pain in my right foot. First I didn't mind it and kept on walking to buy groceries. Then after a while, the pain kept bothering me and I told hubby about it. He then wanted us to check out and go home but I told him we need to buy all the snacks for our VBS next week. I just don't wanna go back again and waste time and gas. I was in great pain already and can hardly walk.

When hubby was checking out, I sat down while waiting on him. I tried to massage my foot but still no improvement. When we were out of the grocery, I was already limping and wriggling in pain. What a timing too that I needed to use the rest room and it was way off from the grocery. It was so difficult for me to walk alone so I had to hold on to the pushcart that hubby was pushing. I walked slowly and had to stop most of the time. Hubby said, "you can do it, you're a big girl". I was in tears while walking. The pain was unbearable. It was a struggle just to go to the restroom and I was embarrassed because some people were looking at me. Perhaps they were wondering what was wrong with me. After using the rest room, suddenly I felt thirsty. We have to look for a store again to buy bottled water. I got tired in the grocery store and also enduring the pain in my foot and it made me thirsty. We were able to buy water and then off we walked to the parking lot. I walked too slow, limping and squirming with pain. Hubby told me to wait on him infront of the mall while he go and get the car. Just mere standing there was a struggle. The pain was killing me.

The drive home was so long for me and the heat made it worst. It was past 2PM and it was too hot. The AC of our car was not working good. When we reached home, I asked my youngest brother who was there in our house making our kitchen drawers to take me to the massage lady who is good in treating sprain, misalignment, etc. When we reached the lady's house, my brother helped me got out of the car and this time my right foot was already swollen. The old lady massaged my right foot and she told me I have collapsed veins, not one but two. Oh my word! I was wriggling in pain while she was massaging it. That was the most painful moment of my life. I had to asked her to stop for a while to give me time to breath and I asked for water. Then she went on and I had to endure the pain while she tried to locate the veins. I prayed to God to help me endure the pain. After a while, it was done and she stopped. She gave me some leaves, to make a poultice, add some oil, heat it and put on my swollen foot when I get home. My foot was still painful after the massage so when I went home, I had to lie down and rest. It was a struggle just to get anything I need so everytime I need something, I have to howler on hubby. Before my brother went home, he put the poultice on my foot. I slept very early last night and I skipped supper.

This morning, I woke up and I was so thankful to God that my foot don't hurt no more. I can walk, go around without any help and the pain is gone. Thank you Lord for healing me and I also thank the old lady who massaged my foot! To God be the glory!

Problem Solved: Unusual Traffic From My Computer

I'm so glad I am able to access my blogger blogs now. A couple of days ago, I was really wondering why I can't open my own blogs. I have a total of six blogs and it made me problematic why I can't open all of them. Every time I try to visit my blogs, I got this message, "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?"

This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop.

This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. Learn more

Sometimes you may see this page if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly.

It took me many hours to figure out how to solve the problem that night but I didn't find a solution. It was past midnight when I went to bed. I told myself maybe it would be fixed the next day by Google but I was wrong. I still can't open my blogs the next day. So what I did, I googled and typed the error message that I got every time I tried to open my blogs until I stumbled to this website that had the same problem and posted what he did to fix it. I followed the instructions and voila, I was able to access all my blogs once again.

This is what I did. I changed my IP address by going to, to get a working IP and its corresponding port. I opened my browser settings (Firefox) and changed my proxy settings from the one I got from This is the easiest fix to bypass this annoying error but if you don’t have a clue on how to change your browser settings, just check this post. This is what I did that eventually got me going. Thank you very much Don Caprio.

It's summer time again here in PI and it's really hot and humid. This is the reason why I prefer to stay in the house now rather than go somewhere. The heat is killing me. I spent countless summers in my life here in my homeland but these past few summers up to the present were the worst summer ever. Too hot! In the US, you can hardly feel the heat during summer because all of the houses and commercial establishments there have AC unlike here in PI, only the malls have it. Our house have AC in our bedroom only so it's warm in the kitchen and living room because we only use electric fan there. I told hubby we need to buy another AC for our living room. I love summer but I just can't stand the heat. I know hubby can't too but he's really adjusting well with the climate here.
