It's Good Friday...

...and we're commemorating the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. It's also a holiday since Wednesday afternoon for all the employees so it's a very long weekend. Hubby asked me earlier if we will have meat and I said "no" but we will have fish steak. I am not a Catholic, not anymore but I'm already used to not eating meat during this time of year. I told hubby that during my younger years when my grandma was still alive, she didn't allow us to take a bath, giggle or laugh out loud and eat meat during Good Friday. She said we can share in Christ's sufferings by doing so.

The nearby malls were also close today and not a lot of cars are passing by. That's one thing I appreciate here in the Philippines, they still observe the Lenten season. It's very different in the US, no observance of the Lenten season there. It's just like an ordinary day, malls are open, people go to work, dine and eat all you can, etc. I told hubby, it's a Christian country but you can't feel it during this season. It just come and go like nothing happened. Just like Christmas, they don't say Merry Christmas no more but they say Happy Holidays. They removed Christ and just took Him for granted. Sad but true.

Hot!

I am not feeling well today.I felt weak and drained and my arthritis in my left arm and fingers is killing me. Though I wanted to work in the house and put things in order but I just can't. The heat is killing me too. All I did the whole day was to stay in our room, turned on the AC, lie down and rest. I asked my hubby to go buy medicine for my arthritis but he kept postponing because of the heat. It's good my youngest brother dropped by late this afternoon so hubby asked him to buy me medicines from the drugstore. It's Holy Week and the heat is so unbearable. I don't wanna go out with this heat. I told hubby I would rather have the winter season in the US than summer. Makes me wanna wish I am in the US now. I'm so jealous with their spring weather this time of the year.

Guest of Honor

Last Tuesday afternoon, our pastor from our home church in Texas came to visit us in our house. He drove alone from Manila driving a car that he rented from the airport. He  really impressed me because he's a foreigner and driving from Manila to our province takes 4 hours and it was his first time to visit our place. I don't even know the ins and outs of Manila. Hubby said he wish he has the guts like him.

Our workers were still working in our house when our visitor arrived. Our house was a mess because renovation was still on-going. You can see dust everywhere and the house was really cluttered. I had to rushed in cleaning all the mess so the pastor can use our bedroom. I was really so exhausted that day and when night time came, we had to take our guest to Chow King because I didn't have time to cook. I even wanted to make lumpia and cook pancit but because of the work in the house, I really didn't have enough time to do it. Supervising the workers and cleaning took most of my time. Anyway, we were so glad to have Pastor Brian Weiss in our house and in our church. He came to see our ministry and to visit us. He preached in our church Wednesday night. He only stayed 2 days though. We wished he could have stayed longer.

Renovation Done

Finally, we are done with the renovation of our house except for the drawers in our kitchen cabinet. It took us two months to finish it and my hubby said he's broke. We started in our living room by tearing down the porch to enlarge our living room. We put new ceramic tiles in the floor all over the house. We constructed a new bathroom and installed new bath tub, commode and lavatory. We put up a new kitchen sink and counter top with back splashes. We also put up kitchen cabinets but as I said, the drawers are not yet finished. We bought a new living room set but we got no more money to buy a dining set for now. We have to put it off until we save money to buy one. We spent a lot of money for the renovation and now we have to slow down in our expenses. It's good to have our own place even though it's just a one bedroom house. It looks like a train, long and narrow house, lol! Anyway, it's better than renting.

Sunscreen For Your Skin

It's so hot here now in my homeland that's why I seldom go out under the scourging heat of the sun. I am avoiding the UV rays of the sun and also I don't want my skin to turn darker. Being an Asian, my skin is brown and I envy those who have a fair and white skin like my hubby. I even bought some whitening soap and lotion for my skin but the thing is, I'm not consistent in using it. I get too lazy doing other things most of the time. Hubby said, why should I bother myself to use those whitening soap and lotion. Many Caucasians pay a lot of money just to have my skin color and here I am wanting to get whiter skin, lol!

Summer is here and the beach is so inviting. Hubby and I loves going there. I need to buy a Broad spectrum sunscreen for me and the husband and use it when we go to the beach to protect our skin from sunburn. Last year, hubby's skin was so reddish after swimming in the beach during day time. He said it sting. I don't want that to happen to him again. Prevention is better than cure, thus sunscreen lotion should be handy. Never go under the sun nor go swimming during day time without applying the best sunscreen on your skin to avoid the ultra violet rays from the sun.

What Makes Me Smile

I am smiling these days because I have quite a few blogging tasks from LV and it means dollars of course. I am so inspired to write especially if I'm compensated to do so. And who wouldn't be? Doing paid reviews is one of the reasons why I created my blogs and take note, I have six blogs all in all but this blog of mine has the highest PR and Alexa ranking among my other blogs that's why I got more opps. I update this blog of mine more often than the rest of my blogs. Maybe that's the reason why Mr. G raised this blog's PR a few months ago and the higher PR a blog have, more paid reviews coming. I just wish to God to give me more. Thanks also to my visitors and readers who keep reading my posts. I appreciate it very much. Hope you keep coming back here and I will try my best to update this blog more often.

Been Busy

It's the month of March already and I'm so amazed how time flies. I've been busy these past couple of months and until now due to the renovation of our house. Our town fiesta did come and go but I didn't even have the time to go to the plaza to watch those events. I was too busy in our house. It's been almost 2 months since we started the renovation but until now it's not yet done. We just had 2 to 3 workers at a time and we even had to stop it for a week due to financial constraint. Now the workers had resumed again and they are now putting tiles in our bathroom. My brother is rewiring our electricity and when he's done he will make the kitchen sink cabinet. Hopefully it will all be finished this weekend because we are expecting a visitor on the 18th of this month. I will post photos when all the work will be done.
