Goodbye US, Hello Philippines!

It's time to say goodbye once again to our friends and loved ones here in the states. For the past four months that we've been here on vacation, hubby and I had a good time. We were able to be reunited with the family and friends. We were also able to attend the high school graduation of Josh, the main reason why we came here in the states. We were also reunited with our church family and get to know our new pastor and his family. We had the opportunity to visit Wayne and Melissa in Iowa. It was such a blessing to be with all of them. Hubby and I have good memories that we will always treasure.

We will be leaving early tomorrow at 4AM. Our flight is 7:30 AM via Delta Airlines. Now I have to go to bed and get some sleep. It's gonna be a long trip. Lord I pray that your will give us your traveling mercy as we go back to the Philippines and do your will in our lives. I love you Lord and thanks for loving me.

I Love My Firmoo Sunglasses

I’ve been blogging for almost six years now and I really enjoyed it. One of the perks of blogging is getting paid by doing what I love and also receiving freebies from the advertisers. I have 4 blogs with domain names all with PR1. Just lately, I got 4 wrap around sunglasses from Firmoo, all for free. All I have to do is write reviews about it in my 4 blogs. Cool isn’t it? I am writing this review based on my honest opinion. These wrap around sunglasses are so beautifully crafted for extreme charm and glamor. The frame is constructed of high qualified plastic, bold and durable. Their prices range from $40 to $44.90 each.

I was so excited to wear my sunglasses when I got it. I tried it one after the other. I went outside by the swimming pool and took photos of me using the self timer of my camera. The sun was shining and it was so hot outside. It’s a good thing I have my sunglasses to help protect my eyes from the scourging heat of the sun without having to worry about harsh UV rays in my eyes. I just love my Firmoo Wrap Around Sunglasses and it fit my face so well. If you want to have a new pair of sunglasses, why not visit firmoo. I’m pretty sure you would love their products as I do. Their sunglasses come with a transparent case, a pouch, a piece of micro-fiber lens cloth, one screwdriver and extra screws.

If you are a new customer of Firmoo, you can order your sunglasses or prescription eyeglasses for FREE so you can also try their quality products and service. Just pay the shipping. What a generous offer from Firmoo!

Updated My Blogroll

I finally updated my blogroll links. It's been years since the last time I got to visit those websites in my blogroll and when I did, I found out that some of those blog don't exist no more. Also, there were blogs that deleted me in their blogroll while their sites were still up in my blogroll. That was so unfair. It was good I spent a few hours checking out my blogroll and found out who did dropped me so after I did that, I cleaned up my blogroll too. Now my blogroll is updated and if you happened not to see your names in my blogroll and my blog is linked in yours, just let me know.

At Weed Park in Muscatine

The places I love to visit are parks and gardens. I love nature, love looking at the trees, plants, flowers and scenery. In fact I've been to Fort Worth Botanic Garden a few times because I love to see the flowers and scenery there. I still have to post here the photos we took when we went there last June. When we were in Iowa, we got the chance to go to the Weed Park in Muscatine. Thanks to Melissa for taking us there.

The name Weed Park sounds weird to me. One may think that all you will see there are weeds, lol! But contrary to the name, I found the park nice and unique. The park houses the Weed Park's Zoo Garden, a three-acre flower, art, pathway and kiosk. There's no feeding the animals because they're metal, loll! The artist did a good job in using metal to fashion the zoo animals, including a monkey, snake, a buffalo, an elephant, birds and a butterfly. Look at my hubby's photos pulling the tail of the monkey while I took his pics here. It really made me laugh!

The park has different kinds of flowers, nice scenery for a nature lover like me. It is a peaceful place where people can walk, listen - and enjoy what has become a flowered oasis. I just love flowers and gardens. To me, a park without flowers is not attractive. The flowers add color to the surroundings. Weed Park is a nice place to visit and enjoy God's wonderful creation.

My Birthday

This is a late post once again. Sorry for lagging behind. I celebrated my golden birthday last Sunday. I am so thankful to the good Lord for giving me this milestone in my life, to be able to celebrate my golden birthday here in Texas. I was teary-eyed and words are not enough to express my deepest gratitude to God for giving me another year. I've been through a lot of trials in my life especially my health. In 1996, I was diagnosed of the big C and in 2005 I had a stroke. How did I survive those major illness that almost took my life? It's only by the grace of God. Maybe if my faith in Him was weak and wavering, I wouldn't be here anymore. But thanks be to God for He healed me and let me live up to this day. The Lord ain't done with me yet. He still has a plan for my life and I'm willing to be used by Him for His glory. Hubby and I has still work to do in our ministry, to lead more souls to the Lord.

To celebrate my birthday, hubby took me to lunch after our church service. I requested him to take me to Jimmy John's. I've never been there before but I heard that their subs sandwiches are great. True enough, hubby and I were satisfied and he said that their sandwiches taste better than Subway sandwiches. But for me, I like Subway better because it has more veggies.

In the evening after our church service, I invited our pastor and his family and 2 friends to dine with us to celebrate my birthday. Hubby and I are staying in our church's guest room for over 2 months now so we cooked foods at the church's kitchen and dined at the fellowship hall. I cooked pancit, lumpia, chicken fruit salad, sandwiches and hubby cooked my favorite German chocolate cake. For our drinks, we served apple juice and bottled water. It was just a simple celebration. Had I celebrated it in the Philippines, it would be a different story. It could have been more guests and of course more foods.

Another Welcome Sign

Maybe some people think I'm weird because I like taking pictures with the welcome signs here in the states. Blame it on my friend who got me into this, lol! It started when drove to Colorado a few years ago and my friend suggested that we need to stop by the welcomes signs of the states that we pass by to take some photos. That friend of mine loves to travel and she takes a lot of pictures more than I do. You can see the pics of the welcome signs that we took that time by clicking here. I posted in my recent post here the pics we took of the welcome signs we passed by when we went to Iowa just recently. Well, here's another welcome sign in my list.
Thanks to Melissa for driving us to Illinois to take these pics. I truly appreciate it.

Dream Big

How time flies. We are now in the month of August, my birth month. It's so hot here in Texas right now and this is what makes me lazy to go out and roam around. I just wish we have a cooler weather in this part of the country. It would be nice to have some of the cooler temperatures in the northern states. When we were in Iowa a couple of weeks ago, it was cooler there than here in Texas. In fact hubby didn't want to leave, lol! We were just talking that it would be nice to have a house in the north and stay there during summer and go back to the Philippines during winter. That's just wishful thinking though.

We have a lot of wants that are not really our needs. For instance, I want to travel and see the world. One of the places I want to see is UK. It would be nice to see the places and attractions there in Knutsford while riding the Limo hire. I've never rode a limo before but I've seen some pics of famous people riding that luxury car. I always thought that it's only for the rich and wealthy people. It would be nice to be able to ride one while on vacation in a foreign country though. Makes you feel like you're somebody and rich, lol! Never stop dreaming. Who knows, God will give you the desire of your heart sooner or later.

Got My New DSLR Camera

One of the joys of blogging is being able to earn money by doing product reviews and direct advertising. I never thought that I can earn money by writing articles. I am not a great writer and I admit that my English vocabulary is just limited. I've been blogging for the past 6 years now and since then I was able to earn money through blogging. I was able to buy my laptop and desk top in 2008 and a lot more. The latest I bought from my blogging money is my Nikon DSLR. I've been wanting to have this but it was so pricey in the Philippines. So I just saved my blogging money and waited till we come back here in the US. Hubby is not in favor to buy another camera because he said it's just a waste of money but I told him I worked my butt off blogging so I can buy that new cam, lol!

When we arrived here in the states, I went to see the price in the store. It's a lot cheaper here than in the Philippines. I wanted to buy it then but hubby said wait for a little while. Maybe he was hoping that he can persuade me not to buy it, lol! So I kept waiting and waiting until last week, we went to Wal Mart and I've seen the price went down by $50. I told hubby I think it's time to buy it now because it might be out of stock later. So I bought the new Nikon D3100, just good enough for an amateur photographer like me. Before upgrading to DSLR, I was choosing between Canon and Nikon. I have both Canon and Nikon point and shoot digicams and I love it both. I was torn which to chose between the two DSLR so I read the customers' reviews and also the features of each camera. I finally I made up my mind after reading the reviews.

I decided to buy the Nikon D3100 Digital SLR. This camera features the 14.2 MP DX-format CMOS Image Sensor along with intuitive controls and on-board assistance helping you take better pictures every step of the way. Plus, it includes 3x 18-55 mm zoom NIKKOR VR image stabilization lens with NIKKOR optical quality and fast, accurate auto-focus for vivid color, striking contrast and crisp detail to ensure the sharpest hand-held pictures and movies. It didn't come with a memory card so I had to buy an SD card. It did not come with a camera bag either so I ordered one in Ebay. I'm still waiting for it in the mail. The price of this camera in the Philippines is a li'l over Php31,000 and that's equivalent to almost $800. That's too much. I bought mine a lot cheaper than that price at Wal Mart and I'm lovin' my new cam.

I love photography and I'm thinking of enrolling in a photography class but then it's too hot here in Texas now. I will just have to be contented with the little knowledge I have about photography. I'm still trying to learn how to use my new camera but here's a couple of pic I took the other day.
