Watching The Rodeo

It was my first time to watch the rodeo last June 12. Sherry bought the tickets for us and it was like a family outing because we all went with the kids and grand-kids. At first, hubby didn't wanna come with us but Stacy told him it's the first time that we will all go out with the kids so that made him come. It was the opening night and the show started at 8PM. We arrived at around 7:30PM and the sun was still shining bright. In the Philippines, that time is already dark but not in Texas. We went to the upper bleacher to have a good view of the arena. The show started with a parade of horse riders and some were waving flags. Here's the photo of that.

The events in the rodeo comprises of tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing. Well, I had fun watching the rodeo and here are more pics.

Extending Our Stay

Why is it that time runs so fast when you're having fun? Hubby and I have been here in Texas for one month and 18 days already to be exact. We've been to some places, meet some friends, relatives and church members, went shopping, dined in the restaurants, and of course ate the foods that we've been craving to eat. We've spent a lot of time with the kids and grand-kids and we enjoyed my stepdaughters' cooking. Wow, what a life! I just wish we could stay here for a year but we have our ministry waiting for us and that comes first.

We're supposed to go back to my homeland on the 28th of this month but our pastor requested us to extend our stay here for another two months to reconnect with our church members and also to get to know our new pastor. We also hope that we can visit churches and raise some support for our ministry. We want also to visit Wayne, my step-son in Iowa next month. We haven't seen him for almost 4 years.

We had to call the Delta Airlines to change the day of our departure and they charged too much for the extension of our stay, $350 each, a whooping $700 for the two of us! What a ripped off! Our pastor said the church will reimbursed the money to us. Thank you Lord. So we will be staying here for another two months and we will leave on the 31st of August. Right now, we are back here in our church's prophet's room after spending a week (Father's Day week) with the kids.

Back To Blogging

I'm back and I'm glad because I can update my blogs again. When we arrived here in Texas, I had neglected my blogs because the house where we were staying have no internet. I missed quite a few blogging opportunities and I was not happy about it. I was having computer withdrawals, lol! When I had the chance to access a wireless router, my laptop didn't work. I was wondering what was wrong with my laptop. It can connect to the wifi but it can't get to the internet.

When we came here in Wichita Falls, the room where we were saying in our church has wireless internet and the pastor gave me the password but my laptop can't get to the internet. I was so disappointed. I called my friend and told her about my problem and she suggested to me to take my laptop to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They scanned my laptop and it was found out that it has virus that's why I can't get into the internet. They want $199 to remove the virus. That's way too much. I said no, I can't afford it and got back my laptop. The antivirus of my laptop had expired long ago but I just ignored it because at that time I seldom use my laptop. I prefer using the desktop when I'm at home.

The next day we went to another computer shop and they were only asking $29 plus tax to remove the virus. They wanted to put antivirus but they wanted $50 for it. I said no, thank you. I got back my laptop the next day and it was already working I was able to connect to the internet. Hubby paid a total of $32.40 for the virus removal. A lot cheaper than Best Buy.  I already downloaded the free ESET Nod32 antivirus in my laptop.  Boy, I was so happy to be able to connect to the world wide web again! Now, I'm back to blogging.
