Christmas Banquet

We went to the beach this morning and we had celebrated our Christmas banquet there. We had our worship service there and after our service we ate the foods that we prepared. We had some chicken adobo, Bicol express, grilled squid, grilled salmon and milkfish, grilled eggplant with tomatoes, vegetables, watermelon, bananas, cantaloupe, macaroni and fruit salad. Some of us went dipping ourselves in the beach because we don't know how to swim, LOL! The waves were so high and strong so I didn't stay long there. It was also windy at the beach today.

It's Been A While...

...since the last time I updated this blog. I'm just too busy nowadays doing this and that. It's only 5 days more to go and Christmas will be here. I'm happy that hubby and I will celebrate Christmas this time here in my homeland. It's been 6 Christmases that I spent in the states and during those times, I felt like crying everytime I hear Christmas songs. My heart was here in my homeland and how I missed my family here. Christmas here in the Philippines is a lot merrier and happier than in the states.

Hubby and I had done some Christmas shopping and I already wrapped most of the gifts. I only have 2 gifts left that need to be wrapped and after that I'm done. We will all be spending Christmas in Baguio City. We already planned what foods we gonna prepare on that day.

God Gave Me You

Everyone has their own love story to tell. I want to share mine too. Sometimes just thinking of making my life story open to others who barely know me makes me feel uneasy but I am doing this just to show how the good Lord has worked in my life and that everything that happened, God has a reason. You have read in my previous post HERE how I overcame a big trial in my life and just more than a year after, another big trial befell me. The enemy did not succeed to defeat me through my illness so he turned to my love life.

I had a boyfriend whom I loved and he was very loving, sincere, caring and affectionate to me. He had been with me when I was in my lowest moments of my life. He had seen what I’ve been through when I was battling the cancer and he had accompanied me during my chemotherapy treatments. During those times that I thought I was going to die, he didn’t leave me. He stayed by my side. I was even ashamed to face him when he came to visit because I looked so ugly, no hair and blackish finger nails, thin and dark because of the chemo and radiation therapy. I was hiding in my room and I told my brother to tell him to go home but he insisted to talk to me. I told him I wanted to break-up with him because I didn’t know if I’m going to live or die soon. I also told him that he can find a healthy and pretty girlfriend and I’m setting him free. He was a good-looking guy and a lot of women had a crush on him in our town. He didn’t want to and he told me that he really loves me, that my hair will grow back and that he already expected my hair to fall out after the chemo. So he's been with me through the bad times and good times in my life. He’s seen me without my hair and he has witnessed the worst effects of chemo on me but he never gave up on me. Whenever I was having a throw-up after chemo, he was there massaging my back and giving me support. Until I recovered everything went smoothly but not for long.

My boyfriend had been watching on television this religious program and he was so impressed with the minister because he seemed to know a lot about the Bible. The people in the audience asked that minister questions and he answered and quoted verses in the Bible from memory. So without me knowing, he went to find a church founded by that minister. He studied their doctrines and got baptized. At first I was impressed because he's been reading the Bible. He also attended their bible study regularly. Until he told me about their doctrines that I got the big shock of my life. Their worship day is Saturday night. They don’t believe in the Holy Trinity. They only believe in God the Father and God the Son but don’t believe in the Holy Spirit. They don’t believe in the doctrine of original or inherited sin either. He said that the sin of Adam and Eve should not be passed down to the next generation. So I started watching that tv program of that minister and I saw and heard how he twisted the meaning of the verses in the Bible. He also blatantly criticized all the other religions and he used offensive and obscene language on tv. So I discerned that he is a false teacher/minister and that their religion is a cult. The Lord has really prepared me for this because during those times that I was in Baguio City having my radiation and chemotherapy, I read my Bible daily and I even highlighted those verses that really blessed and inspired me. God had been talking to me through His Word not knowing that my faith in Him will be put again to the test.

So every time he visited me in our house we always have an argument about our opposing beliefs. One time I got so upset because my brother had a birthday celebration and he came but he didn’t eat. He said it’s against their doctrine to eat if the celebrant is from another religion. How absurd! I even quoted to him 1 Timothy 4:1-5 but he won’t accept it. Then he wanted to invite me to attend their church so I can see how they pray and sing but I refused. I said I’m already contented with my church because they’ve been with me when I was sick, they prayed for me and they are my prayer warriors. Also it’s in my church that I got saved, baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. He said that he would be praying for me so I would join him in his church but I told him no need to pray for me about joining his church because I already cancelled all his prayers and it won’t be effective. I was really in spiritual warfare that time.

He even proposed marriage to me but he said we will get married in their church or in a civil ceremony. I told him “No way, if I will get married it will be in my church and will be officiated by our Pastor.” He said he really wanted to marry me even though I can’t have kids anymore because of the chemo. It really made me tear up because I know he really loves me. His mom was very fond of me too and she always cook for me whenever I would go to their house. I asked him one time if now that he’s been faithfully attending that church if he’s sure that he is saved and is going to heaven and he said nobody knows for sure. That’s why he’s doing good works so that he might be saved and go to heaven. I quoted to him Ephesians 2: 8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” It just fell on deaf ears because he’s already been brainwashed by their false teacher. I felt so frustrated. Then I had this dream that my boyfriend and I were talking when I saw a sack not far from us and something inside it was moving. He went to open it and I told him not to open it because it might be a snake inside. But opened it and it was really a snake! What puzzled me is that the snake slithered through the ground past my boyfriend moving towards me and tried to bite me. Then I woke up.

I told my dream to a pastor and he interpreted my dream. He said the snake is the devil and the reason he went past my boyfriend because he already belong to him and he wanted to attack me because I’m not his. So I had to make a decision. Satan had reminded me of all the good things that my boyfriend had done for me especially when I was so sick and he didn’t leave me.  Even my aunt told me that I can’t find a man as good as him who really loves me. My dad and my siblings were very fond of him too. He used to give my father haircuts. Satan told me that no man would love me no more because of my illness. But I have to stand firm on my faith and my beliefs. The Bible said in 2 Cor. 6:14, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbeliever: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness.” I prayed to the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction. Though it hurts me so bad I decided to break-up with him after 4 years of our relationship. I never forget the look on his face when I broke up with him. He was very, very sad, hurt and he went home right away. But what can I do, I can't accept his religious beliefs. I told God that I love Him more than any man in this world and that when I will see Him face to face and He will ask what did I give up for Him, I will tell Him my boyfriend whom I loved. I cried and cried that night. I was so heart-broken. It took me a few months to get over it. I remember my sister asked me that time why is it that I have a lot of trials in life. I really don’t know why but I only know that God won’t give us trials beyond our endurance. A few months after the break-up, my father passed away in February 2000. So it was another trial in our family. I was so broken again. Ex-boyfriend came to visit me several times after the break up. I could feel he still loves me but I never went back to him. With God’s grace I slowly overcame the hurt and the pain of losing 2 people that I dearly love. I can’t handle it without the help of God. Life has to go on.

I prayed to God that if it’s His will that I get married, then He will give me a man who is a Christian, one who loves the Lord and who has the same beliefs as mine. I prayed for a man who will love and accept me for what and who I am despite the illness that I’ve been through. I also prayed to God that if it’s His will that I will remain single all my life, then I would still be happy serving and praising Him. Every night I prayed to God for the right man to come along in my life. Then on May 12, 2002, I met George in a dating site online. He is a widower for 5 years and he’s a Christian. We corresponded for 3 months and I told him everything that happened to me, my illness and my break-up with my ex-BF. Before I emailed him about it, I had to pray to God and to the Holy Spirit for guidance. I prayed to God that if George can accept me despite the illness that I've been through, then he is God’s will for me. If he will get turn-off then he’s not meant to be in my life. So after I prayed, I e-mailed George and told him everything and the title of my e-mail was My Personal Testimony. The next day I was at my work when my cell phone rang. It was George and he told me he had read my e-mail. He said he was touched and was even teary-eyed when he read it. I asked if he still love me after reading my e-mail and he said yes. I was so happy and I knew that time deep in my heart that he is God’s will for me.

Here’s the e-mail he sent to me after reading my e-mail. I printed all his e-mails to me and kept it. I re-read them over and over and it really made me love him more. Here it goes, “My dearest darling angel, I read your letter and tears came to my eyes, it made me LOVE you even more and I knew you truly were sent to me by God. The LORD had kept you alive because HE knew that someday you could be an encouragement and uplifting, a very special person, a LOVING ANGEL for me. After I read your letter, I fell to my knees, prayed unto Him to forgive me for being so selfish. I had no problems, praise Him for giving you to me. My faith was restored by just reading your testimony. LISA I MOST DEARLY LOVE YOU. LISA you are the WOMAN I HAVE PRAYED FOR, THE WOMAN GOD HAS SENT ME TO LIVE OUT MY LIFE WITH. The LORD has given me life again. He forgave me for turning away from Him then accepted me back in the flock…LISA I LOVE YOU. I got to close for now. John 3:16. I thank God He also gave me YOU..." George

My tears were flowing down my cheeks while reading George's e-mail. They were tears of joy. The Lord has finally answered my prayers. He gave me the man I prayed for, one who loves me unconditionally. I love George very much next to God. On August 25, 2002, George came to the Philippines and met me and my family. After a few days he asked me to marry him. I was surprised because we never talked about marriage. I thought we will just meet in person. I told him to think a million times before deciding to marry me because I almost died of cancer and I'm not sure if I will have a relapse again. He said he already decided that he's going to marry me before he came to meet me. After a few days I told him again that he can change his mind of marrying me, that he can back out anytime but he said NO. I was then convinced that he was really serious about his marriage proposal so I agreed to go with him to the US Embassy in Manila to get his certificate of legal capacity to contract marriage in the Philippines. George told me later that the US consulate asked him if he is sure that I really love him because I might just be using him as a stepping stone to go the the US. He told the consulate that he's sure that I love him. What a guy! He never doubted my feelings for him. On September 11, 2002, we got married in our church. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. It was a whirlwind romance so to speak. We only have known each other for 4 months and we ended up in the altar.

On September 30, 2003 the next year, I arrived in the US with my husband. I thank God for giving me George. We both love each other very much. God is good all the time and I praise God for everything that He has done and He's going to do. God is really amazing! He answered my prayers and had given me my heart’s desire. I can't thank Him enough. God is awesome! God deserves all the glory, honor and thanksgiving from me. “He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Ephesians 3:20.

My husband and I are now doing missionary works in the Philippines. We came back here in January 6, 2009 after staying in the US for more than 5 years. We built a church with George as the pastor and I teach the kids in Sunday School. There's no greater calling, no greater honor than to be called servants of God. We've seen people got saved after hearing God's Word. God is good all the time and I praise God for everything that He has done and He's going to do. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY.

I Was Offered A Job

Last week, hubby and I was offered to invest in a private high school that they're going to put up here in our town. There is a public high school here but there's no private high school yet. I asked how much should we invest if in case we have the money and they said it's Php400,000. They also offered me a job to teach Math. I am a license secondary school teacher major in Math and I have also an experience working as a school clerk in the public high school here in our hometown for more than 7 years. It's a very tempting offer, I can use my profession here and also I will have a steady income. They gave us 1 week to decide and hubby said we gonna pray about it. I have already decided right after they talked to us but of course I have to go with hubby's decision.

After a week they came back to know our decision. They said they already have 2 investors not counting the 2 of them and they still need one more. Hubby and I told them we do not have the money to invest. With our financial situation right now, our income is just enough for our monthly expenses. Besides, we came here to start a ministry and not to find a job. It's true that hubby had talked to that teacher about starting a private school more than 6 years ago before we went to the US but that was the time that hubby had some money in the bank which he got from his retirement. Now we don't have that money anymore, it's been spent. We have to keep the money circulating you know. So that's been settled but they want to know if I'm interested to work for the school and teach Math. I simply told them that I am not interested to work 8 hours a day 5 days a week as I used to. Our ministry is where I want to focus my time. The Lord had provided the means for us to come back here so we have to do His work. I really appreciate that they considered me to work in the school that they're putting up because they know that I am qualified. Not a lot of people have that opportunity. In fact, there are many professionals here who are having a hard time looking for a job. Had it been offered to me a few years back, I would have grabbed the job offer right away without thinking. But my priorities had changed, the work for the Lord comes first now.

Done With My Dual Citizenship

I'm done with my dual citizenship. I got my certificate last Friday from the immigration office in Manila. Then I filed my petition for hubby's permanent resident visa. They told me to go back after 5 days for hubby's hearing and that's today. It so happened that the van of my sister that we've been using in going to Manila is color coded today. We had no option but to travel by bus. It was not that easy taking the public transportation if you've been used to traveling by car or van for the past 6 years. Also, I'm not familiar with the streets in Manila so my sister had to go with us. She took a leave from her work and accompanied us. We left the house at 3:45 and my BIL drove us to Binalonan to wait for the bus that will take us to Manila. We were able to ride the bus at around 4:30 AM. It was a long trip and the bus had to stop at the bus stations twice not to mention the traffic. We arrived at the immigration office around 9:15. The scheduled time for hubby's hearing was 10:00 AM. As usual, it was already past 10:20 AM when they called us inside the room for the hearing. The so-called hearing is just like a casual conversation between the immigration lawyer and us with just a few questions and that's it. They told me to call their office after a week for a follow-up of the application. I hope it would be approved soon...

Been So Busy... our front yard the past couple of days. Why is it that those weeds grow faster than my plants. I've been weeding our my garden, sweeping the dried leaves and some plastic wrappers scattered around. I also replanted some of my cactus plants and arranged them altogether in a metal planters holder. Oh, they look so cute. I have different varieties of cactus but some of it died when it rained so hard. They got rotten. Cactus don't like too much water. Next time it will rain, I will have to cover my cactus with plastic cover so it won't get too much water and rot. Right now they're alright because it's not rainy season no more.

Our Christmas Tree

As early as Monday, the 3rd of this month, hubby and I had already put up our Christmas tree. Hubby assembled it and I was the one who put the ornaments. We are using the same Christmas tree that I bought in Texas six years ago. It's still look good and we're gonna use it until it's still usable. Hubby and I shipped it here last year. At first it didn't fit the balikbayan box because it's long. So hubby had to cut the pole of the Christmas tree into 2 to fit in the box. He just connected it using a wooden rod before he put it up last Monday. We bought 3 Christmas lights and put it around the tree. The ornaments are the same ones that I bought at the same time when I bought the Christmas tree except for the apples which I bought 2 years ago at a garage sale across our house in TX. Baby Vernice was having a blast when she first saw the lighted Christmas tree. Here it is.

Giving Out Gospel Tracts

This afternoon after cleaning our house and taking a shower, I asked my hubby to go out with me to distribute our gospel tracts to the neighborhood and invite them to our church tomorrow. He said he can't leave my aunt alone in the house because of her condition. My aunt has Alzheimer's disease and when she's alone, she roam around the kitchen, turn on the stove and my hubby is afraid that my aunt will burn the house. So I called my nephew next door and asked him to go with me. Unfortunately, my first 2 prospects went to a banquet so we turned back home. Hubby was at the gate and he said he just turned off the gas regulator so my aunt can't light the stove just in case. So off we went walking around the town plaza and distributed some gospel tracts. The thing is we ran out of gospel tracts because I took only quite a few. Next time we'll go out again and I'll make it sure that I will take with us the bag full of tracts.

Riding My Stationary Bike

A couple of months ago, I bought a stationary bike using my blogging money. I noticed that I've been gaining weight and also both of my knees are now having arthritis. I can hardly walk after sitting in front of my laptop for a few hours. If I squat, it's hard for me to stand up because I can feel pain in both of my knees. Oh my, this must be sign of aging??? Yaks! I used to exercise everyday when I was in Texas because I have a treadmill, stationary bike and a power rider there. Here I don't have any of those because I can't take it with me when we moved here. Thus, no exercise and the result, I gained weight.

The stationary bike I bought has an LCD and I can monitor my speed, time and how many calories I burned. This afternoon, I rode my bike for 30 minutes and it made me sweat. I felt so good after that. The previous days, I rode for 25 to 30 minutes. Next time I wish to prolong my time riding it. I just need a determination to ride it often so I can lose those excess pounds. I want to be slim again. I can't afford to change my wardrobe if I become bigger.

Paranoid Neighbor

Lately, I've been busy washing our clothes because according to the news, a strong typhoon will be coming again. Most people who were victims of the typhoon and flood a couple of weeks ago haven't recovered yet from that great disaster and here comes again another typhoon. A lot of people now are in fear just like one of our neighbors. She came to our house and she said she was not able to sleep the previous night because she was thinking of the coming typhoon and a possible earthquake that she heard in the news. She feared that the dam will break and our area will be flooded. She wanted to evacuate now and she even packed some of her clothes already. She was so paranoid. We told her that in case that thing will happen, she’s not alone. She’s afraid to die just like those people who died during the flood. My brother advised her to stop watching the news so she will not get nervous. I’ve been witnessing to her about salvation and putting her trust in Jesus. If you are saved and you know for sure that you will spend eternity in heaven, then there’s nothing to fear. Come what may, you know who holds tomorrow and who’s in control of anything that happens in this world. It’s Jesus Christ, my Savior and my coming King.

Dual Citizenship

Last Monday, my hubby and I went the Immigration Office in Intramuros, Manila to file for my dual citizenship. I must admit, I’ve been postponing to go there because I really don’t like to go to Manila because I hate the traffic there and also we always have a bad experience from the crocodiles in the streets (mga buwaya sa kalsada na pulis) and MMDA workers. They aways stop our driver for a made up violation and fine him. But since we are already here in my homeland for 9 months now, I have to file my application before the expiration of our free stay here or we have to pay huge amount for the extension of our visas. Our free stay here is only good for a year. I paid Php3,000 for the application and hopefully it will be approved soon because I have to petition my hubby for permanent residency here.

Flood Due To Typhoon

I was watching in the tv the victims of the typhoon and flood in the Philippines and I really feel sorry to them. Most of them had lost their homes, appliances and everything. Typhoon Ondoy had flooded Manila and typhoon Peping flooded Northern Luzon including our province Pangasinan. The San Roque dam released water which caused the flood. This was the worst flood in 40 years according to the news. At night when I lie down in bed, I think of those people who are in evacuation centers with no comfortable bed to sleep, no foods and clothing. My heart goes out to them. Relief goods had been distributed to them. I just pray to the good Lord that He will comfort them and provide their every need.

Jesus Healed Me

Here is one chapter in my life that will always stay fresh in my mind. This experience in my life is a living proof that God is still the same yesterday, today and forever and miracles happen when we pray. I’m not telling this to glorify myself or anybody but to glorify the name of Jesus, my Healer.

It was September 1995 when I felt a lump in my left breast while I was taking a bath. I got worried but I can't go to the doctor because I didn't have a job that time. I also remembered my mom told me before that according to her doctor, cancer is hereditary. So when finally I got a job, I went to see a doctor for a check up of the lump in my breast and he said I needed to have an excision for biopsy. I was so scared to go under the knife but with lots of prayers from my church, my family and my own prayers, I finally got the courage to go under the knife. My first salary just went to the doctor. To make the story short, after the biopsy, I was diagnosed of the Big C, breast cancer and it was invasive. I remember, I was with my aunt in the hospital when I got the biopsy result and I cried and cried. I asked God "Why me Lord? There are lots of bad people out there but why me of all people?" I said I’m still young and I’m going to die soon. To have a cancer is just like having a death sentence. My mother passed away because of breast cancer when I was 16 and I’ve witnessed how hard it was for her to suffer this disease. I prayed hard to God to heal me. At that time I was still a baby Christian but I believe that God can do miracles. I wanted an instant healing miracle like what I've watched on tv a few times but God had another plan. I just realized later that God deals with every individual differently based on their faith.

The doctor advised me undergo mastectomy so the cancer will not spread. I didn't want to have another surgery because I was so scared and I remember my sister and I used to cry at night. I told her I'm going to die like our mom, she had undergone surgery 3 times but she still died. But Violy encouraged me and with lots of prayers I agreed to undergo another surgery because I wanted to live longer. It was really so hard for me financially, my mind was bothered with my illness and I was also tortured of thinking where will I get the money needed for the surgery. My sister Violy decided to get a loan so I can have the money I needed for the surgery. Also my brother Celso just got a job and he helped me too. This time I needed a lot of prayers again from my church and for one month I was the subject of their prayer meetings and also they came and prayed for me in our house. I needed the courage to go under the knife again. I was so nervous before I went to the operating room. My BP was high but the doctor decided to perform the operation anyway. Everything went alright after the surgery but it took some time for the wound to heal. Then I went back to work after a few days and I just took some medications which the doctor prescribed me to kill the cancer cells.

But lo and behold! After almost 2 years I had a relapse in 1998, the cancer came back and it was inflamed. This time I went to see another doctor in Baguio General Hospital. He’s an oncologist and he was the doctor of my late mom. He still remembered my mom and he said "Oh, mother and daughter". I cried at that time and he recommended to me to have a chemo and radiation therapy as soon as possible. I had to remedy again the money needed for the treatment. I was so depressed this time. My salary was not even enough to cover my treatment each month and I needed to have the chemo every 28 days for 6 consecutive months. I prayed to God to take care of my financial needs. I said to God that He owns the world and everything on it and I trust Him that He will meet my needs. God has been so faithful. He provided all the money that I needed. He used other people to help me. Just after my 1st chemo my hair fell out and it really made me cry. I was so depressed because it was hard for me to lose my hair. Also I always throw-up until there were no more food in my stomach. I was worst than a pregnant woman because I didn’t even like the smell of most foods. It made me throw-up too. My youngest brother Albin accompanied me in my treatment alternately with my aunt and my BF in Baguio each month. By the way, my aunt was the one who raised me and my siblings when my mom passed away.

After my 2nd chemo, the worst happened. The effects of chemo and radiation therapy was worst than the cancer itself. I can’t eat and I can’t sleep for almost a week and it made me so weak. I didn’t even want to look at myself in the mirror because I saw an ugly woman whenever I look at the mirror due to the effects of the therapies. I was so thin, so dark, no hair and my fingernails were blackish. I was even ashamed to go out when other people came into the house. I hid in my room. I used a hat then I bought a wig from a beauty parlor to cover my bald head. That wig was ugly so I asked one of my friends who was working abroad to buy one and send it to me and she did, thank God. I almost died after my 2nd chemo. It felt like there was a heavy stone on my chest and I can’t lie down for even straight 5 minutes. When I sat down I got tired easily so I really didn't know what to do. I can't eat because my throat was sore due to my throw-ups. I knew my immune system at that time was so weak because of the chemo treatments. It killed the good and bad cells in my body. My room was upstairs and I can hardly go up there. I remember I even asked forgiveness from my father who was still alive at that time and all the members in my family if I offended them in the past because I thought I won’t live long. I really cried and I knew they had a hard time seeing me suffer. My sister and her husband took me to the hospital for intravenous treatment to make me stronger but it didn't really help. Still I didn't feel any better. When everybody were all sleeping at night I was wide awake sitting down on my bed and looking at the sky talking to God and pleading my case.

Then that memorable night happened. I was really so weak and can’t sleep for many nights already. I knelt down beside my aunt and I cried out my heart to the Lord. I said to God that if it’s His will to take my life, then take it now because I already suffered a lot and I can't handle it no more but if it’s His will that I will live, then He will heal me. I said to God that I know that all people will die but I pleaded to Him to please extend my life so I can help my family and also His ministry. I claimed His promises in the Bible, like “I am the Lord that healeth thee" Exodus 15:26, “Ask and it shall be given”, Matthew 7:7, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24”, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" Hebrews 13:5, “With God nothing is impossible” Luke 1:37. While I was praying, my aunt knelt down too beside me and we both prayed and cried to the Lord to heal me for maybe half an hour. I made a total surrender to the Lord. After that I laid down and I focused my thoughts on Jesus. I kept telling myself,  "Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me", then I drifted off to sleep for the first time after almost a week of not being able to sleep. When I was sleeping Satan came to disturb me because I dreamed of my mom having a lot of lumps in her body and I woke up. I rebuked Satan and commanded him to leave in Jesus’ name. I told him that greater is He who is in me (Jesus) than he who is in this world (satan). I really said it out loud. Then I went back to sleep and when I woke up in the morning I decided to go back to work. I had to fight my illness and won’t let the enemy win. From that time on I slowly re-gained back my strength/health and my healing has been slowly and surely.

Until now I’m cancer free and I'm not taking any cancer medicine. It's been more than 13 years and I thank God I'm still alive. Jesus Christ has healed me! The Lord is really amazing! He’s the greatest physician in this world and I give Him all the glory, honor, praises and thanksgiving. He had also transformed me from glory to glory and I’m not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus Christ is my Healer, Provider, Comforter, Savior and Lord of my life and I belong to Him. Jesus Christ is also my coming King. This trial in my life had strengthen my faith in God and I developed a closer relationship with Him. This was really a test of faith and I am a living proof that Jesus Christ still heals today as long as you have faith. To anybody who is reading my testimony, it's my prayer that you'll be blessed and if you have any problems in your life, just go to Jesus and talk to Him through prayer. Nothing is too difficult for Him. What He has done for me, He can do it for you according to His will for He is no respecter of person. Just have faith. To God be the Glory!

Messy Upstairs

I've been busy cleaning the upstairs of our house this morning and the past few days. My, how come there are lots of junks and stuffs in there. It was really a mess and there's hardly enough space to walk through. There are 2 small rooms up there and a hallway. One of the rooms is a guest room where my youngest brother sleep when he comes over. The other room is where I put some of our stuffs that we seldom use. It's like a storage room now. That used to be my bedroom when I was single. Everybody are sleeping on the first floor now and we seldom go upstairs. At the hallway is where my brother Celso put all their stuffs that can't be accommodated in their room. Boxes and clothes were piled up. As I was going through some of those boxes, I've found some letters from my college friends and what I did, I had to stop cleaning and read those letters again which were written to me way back in 1994.'s been that long and those letters are still there. After reading those letters, I threw them in the box going to the trash. I still have a lot of things to go through and then it was time for lunch so I had to stop.

Celebrating Our Anniversary

Yesterday marked the 7th wedding anniversary of me and my hubby. It was the 2nd time that we celebrated it here in the Philippines. We bought a goat which my brother Albin butchered and we cooked kaldereta, kilawin and pinapaitan. We had also goulash, chop suey, fruit salad and papaya pickles. While we were cooking, it was raining so hard. I thought the people I invited would not be able to come because of the rain. I didn't invite a whole lot because we didn't cook that much. We invited our neighbors and close friends only and the celebration was held in our carport at 6:00 PM. Before we had dinner, my hubby welcomed and thanked everybody for coming. He quoted some verses in the Bible and just gave a short message. I was waiting for him to call me and speak too but instead he asked one of our guests who is a pastor to bless the foods. Then I stood up and told hubby that I will speak also. First I thanked everybody for coming and then I related to them how my hubby and I met. I told them our love story and how the good Lord had answered my prayers. It's been a long wait for me until I found my life partner whom God had given me. I got all their attention while I was talking and all their eyes were focus on me and it made me emotional. I closed my speech by thanking and praising God for giving me my perfect match. Then it was time to dig in the foods waiting on the buffet table. We had a great time.

Back To The Blogosphere

We just got back our internet today after 8 days of no connection since somebody had stolen the phone lines in our area. I thought it would take longer before the company will fix it but I was mistaken. I'm again connected to the world wide web and I'm so glad. Having no internet is like having no connection to the other parts of the world and it's like my daily routine is not complete without it. I also missed updating this blog and visiting other blogs. Now I'm back to the blogosphere and it makes me glad.

No Internet Again

It's been 3 days now since the phone lines going to our town were stolen and so we don't have phone and internet once again. Somebody must be in dire need and they stole the cable lines and most probably they sold it to have money. My gosh! Life is really getting harder and harder. I don't know how long until they can replace again the cable lines but I'm sure it will take a while just like last time. I'm here in the internet cafe again. I wish we will have our internet connection back soon.

Lazy and Busy

Well, well, I've been lazy posting personal post here. It's been so hot here again these past few days and my brain doesn't seem to work good when it's hot. Besides I don't have any interesting thing to write about. The past week, my sister and I have been busy typing our songbook/hymnal for our church and had it printed. We chose the hymns that we know and like and also we added some praise and worship songs. My brother was the one who designed the cover. The other day we went to the mall and had it xerox using laser. Tomorrow we will have it book bind. I'm excited to see the finish hymnals. We will use it during our worship service.

It's Been More Than A Year...

...since this blog's PR3 was ripped off by Mr. G. Other bloggers doing paid blogging have the same plight. Just imagine, I did a lot of bloghopping and writing interesting posts just to get more traffic in my site. My effort paid off because in just a matter of 2 months after I created this blog, I got a PR3 and I was so ecstatic. I got lots of opps and I started to earn more money doing paid blogging. But my excitement didn't last long. The high and mighty G took away this blog's PR and from that time on I never got it back. My 3 other blogs have the same fate. Their PR were also ripped off not at the same time but one at a time. Sigh! Blogging didn't end just because of that. I still blog and with or without PR, blogging goes on.

Vernice's Dedication And Birthday Celebration

I mentioned here a couple of weeks ago that my niece Vernice will celebrate her 1st birthday and will be dedicated to the Lord at the same day, July 25th. Actually her birthday is on July 28th but her parents decided to have a double celebration. Hubby was the one who did the dedication service. Lots of people came to the said occasion to witness Vernice's dedication to the Lord and of course to celebrate with her on her 1st birthday. The celebration was held in our carport and my brother and his wife had rented tables and chairs and kitchen utensils. My sister-in-law's 2 brothers cooked most of the foods. There were lots of foods being served like beef caldereta, embutido, lumpia, grilled chicken, ground pork, chop suey, pancit, buko pandan salad for dessert and a birthday cake. It was a happy celebration for baby Vernice and she got lots of gifts too from her godparents, family and friends.

Hubby's Test Result

I sent a text message to my hubby's doctor today and asked him if he already got the result of the polyps' test of my hubby and what's the result. He text back quickly and I was so glad to know that the test result was benign. He said that hubby needs to have a follow-up check up next week but I asked him if we can have it by the end of this month and he said it's okay. Hubby was happy of the result of course. He is now starting to cut down his food so he will lose weight. I hope he will continue on this and not just for starter. He is still not drinking coffee and he said he will go back to it next week. His doctor told him not to drink coffee, tea, soda, dairy and spicy foods for 2 weeks. He's been following his doctor's order but he said he miss his coffee and he's looking forward to drink it after the 2 weeks period is done.

Thank God For Another Year!

I can't thank God enough for all the blessings that He has given me. He's been so faithful and His mercies never end. All these years God is my refuge and strength. In times of trials and troubles, He's always there to carry me through.

It was my birthday last Wednesday, 5th of August and I thank God for another year that He has given me in my life. God is the source of my existence and without Him I am nothing. Every year is such a blessing and I just praise God for all the things that He has done in my life and for all the things that He’s going to do. Though I spent most of the day of my birthday at the hospital with my hubby who was confined for 5 days but I still thank God because hubby was discharged that afternoon. We had a little celebration at my brother-in-law's house who prepared spaghetti and he bought a chocolate roll cake. There was also pancit which was cooked by Glo and before we ate, she said the blessing. It was a simple celebration but I thank God for everything. Hubby got out of the hospital on my birthday and he's doing okay now. We spent a lot in the hospital but I'm thankful because the doctors didn't find any serious illness on him except colitis and peptic ulcer. Thank you Lord for your goodness, mercy and love.

My Hubby's Hospitalization

It's been more than 2 weeks since the last time I updated this blog. Things happened unexpectedly like my hubby's hospitalization. Right after the dedication and 1st birthday of little Vernice, we went up to Baguio with my sister and family. Hubby wanted to relax and enjoy the cool weather there but on the 4th day of our stay there, he had a severe abdominal pain. It was on and off for a couple of days because after I gave him apple cider vinegar he felt okay. But it recurred the next day and then he felt the pain and he can't sleep no more at night. I bought over the counter drugs like antispasmodic pill and it worked at first but then afterwards the pain returned. I even had to put a hot compress on his stomach most of the time. It had helped a little but not that much. I asked him to go to the hospital but he didn't want to but on July 31st, he can't stand the pain no more so he agreed at last to be taken to the hospital. I took him to the ER. They took a stool test and it was negative so the doctor prescribed him pills for stomach pain and sent him home.

When we were home after we ate lunch and he took the pill, the pain persisted and I really got worried. I thought it might be appendicitis or UTI. I called my sister who was at her work in the lowland and I asked her to come after she gets off from work. She decided to take off at 2:00 PM and traveled straight to Baguio from her work. After our supper that night, we took my hubby again to the ER at the same hospital and I told the doctor there that the medicine he prescribed didn't work at all. I asked them to test his urine and they did. The result was negative of any infection and so they did test after test like CBC, ECG, chest and stomach x-rays thinking that it might be appendicitis or maybe something wrong in his gallbladder but they didn't find anything wrong on him. Next they got blood sample again and test his pancreas, they called it amylase and serum lipase and still the results were okay. Then the doctors suspected that there might be a blood clot inside his stomach so they suggested to do an ultrasound. Before that he was not allowed to eat or drink. On Saturday afternoon, they did the ultrasound. After the ultrasound, hubby told me that he just found out it was a boy, LOL! It really made laughed. He still managed to joke around, he-he! The result of the ultrasound was known right away. They didn't find anything serious except a fatty liver and small kidney stone on his left kidney. They said it should not be the cause of a severe abdominal pain. I was already puzzled what's the cause of the illness of my hubby. Our expenses there kept soaring up after all those tests. The room I got for him was private and it's pricey. They then suggested a CT scan for my hubby after the ultrasound. So still they didn't give him no food or drink until the CT scan is done that day. So he had an ultrasound and CT scan in just one day.

After the CT scan that night, my hubby kept asking for food and drink. So I asked the nurse if my hubby can have some foods already. She told me she would have to ask the doctor first. Then she returned and told me that my hubby can only have soup and gelatin according to doctors order. She told me to just go out and buy outside because it's past supper time already. I gave my hubby water to drink but he was not satisfied. He wanted something to eat. It's been almost 24 hours since the last time he ate. So what I did, I went to the nurses' station and asked the nurse there for food for hubby. The nurse whom I talked to a few minutes ago was there and she told me to go buy outside. My temper broke and I told her that the hospital should provide the food for my hubby because it's included in our hospital bill and I should not be the one buying food for him. The other nurse said that she will take care of it and then I turned and left with my temper still rising. After a few minutes, a bowl of soup and 3 small pieces of jellyace was delivered for hubby.

The result of the CT scan was known by Monday and it turned out okay. They didn't find anything wrong on him. So I was like asking myself and thinking what's wrong with my hubby. He had 3 doctors and I was really thinking of the bill that we're going to pay. Meanwhile, hubby was still in pain every night and he kept asking for pain reliever. Then the doctors suggested to perform colonoscopy to see if something is wrong in his colon. I told the doctor we can't afford it no more and I wanted to check out my hubby from the hospital. They did a lot of tests already and they didn't find anything wrong. I asked my hubby if he wanted to have it done and he said whatever my decision is then he will follow. I called my sister and asked her opinion and she told me to have the colonoscopy done for my hubby. So I called the doctor and told him we will have it done. By the way, hubby's attending doctor was my board mate when I was in college so we really know each other.

So Monday night, they prepared my hubby for the colonoscopy procedure to be done the next day at 9:30 AM. They didn't give him any solid food after 6:00 PM and after 12 midnight no more liquid. They gave him laxative and that night he went to the bathroom 4 times to pooh. He was not able to sleep good that night. At 9:30 AM while I was taking a shower, they came to get my hubby for colonoscopy. When I got out from the bathroom he was gone. A few minutes after, the nurse came to ask me to go to the scope room as per request of the doctor. So I went there and they were already doing the colonoscopy. Hubby was sedated so he was unconscious. They let me watch on the monitor what they're doing. At first I was nervous because it was my first time to watch that procedure done. As I was looking at the screen the colon and large intestines of my hubby being scan, I was praying to God and the Lord impressed on my heart this verse, "All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. I was able to control my nervousness. Then the doctor called me and told me that there's an area inside hubby's colon that has a rough surface. They got a specimen for biopsy. Then they kept scanning and found 6 polyps inside my hubby's colon. I was really amazed how they removed those polyps with the use of their instruments right there and then. They will do biopsy and we will know the result after a week. I asked why do they have to do the biopsy if it's not cancerous and the nurse told me that there are many kinds of polyps so they wanted to know what kind is it. After almost an hour, the procedure was finish and my hubby was already awake. The first thing he asked me was food. He wanted something to eat. It really made me smile.

Before they took my hubby back to the room, I asked the doctor if they found anything serious in my hubby's colon. I felt relieved when he told me that they found nothing serious and no colon cancer whatsoever. He said hubby has an inflamed colon due to ulcerative colitis and peptic ulcer. After all those test, the last test they did was where they found out hubby's illness. Holy molly guacamole!!!

They gave prescription for hubby after their diagnosis and it made my hubby felt better. The next day which was Wednesday, my birthday, the doctors released hubby from the hospital. The nurse then came to tell me to get the hospital bill at the billing section. I got shocked when I've seen the total bill. It was too much, 65k! My face became so hot. My cash was not enough. I have only 50K and I thought that was more than enough for 5 days stay in the hospital. I told the cashier I didn't expect that much and the cash I have was not enough. He told me that he close at 4PM so I told him I will just come back when I get enough money to pay. I asked if they accept credit or debit card but he said no. I went back to the room and told hubby about it. I called my sister and told her I needed to borrow some money. I had to wait on her because they had to travel from Laoac and it takes 1 and a half hour drive to Baguio.. I got worried she won't make it before 4PM and we will spend another night in the hospital. I was relieved when they arrived at 3:30 PM so I was able to pay the bill. Sigh!!! There goes our money. It really depleted our finances but I'm thankful to the Lord that hubby is feeling better now. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Thank you Lord!

Celebration Tomorrow

I'm tired today and yesterday. We've been busy getting things ready for the dedication and birthday of my niece Vernice Julia. She will be dedicated to the Lord tomorrow and at the same time we gonna celebrate her 1st birthday. The baby's birthday will be on Tuesday but they decided to have a double celebration tomorrow. It's like shooting 2 birds in one stone. We went to the grocery last Wednesday to buy some ingredients for the foods that we gonna prepare and this afternoon we went again to the grocery to buy meat. My sister and I shared in the expenses. My sister bought vegetables and chicken for chopsuey. She will also make fruit salad for dessert. I bought 22 lbs of beef, cake, balloons and giveaways. What my brother bought were chicken, pork and ingredients. We helped him and his wife because they don't have the means in buying all those stuffs. That's what siblings are for, to help each other. Besides the baby is so adorable, cute and she's a happy baby. She entertain us with her cute smiles, winks and a lot more. In fact my hubby is so fond of Vernice. They play together most of the time and hubby said Vernice is a mess and she's a character. By the way, my hubby will be the one who will do the dedication service tomorrow.

Rainy Days

We enjoyed the rain for the past few days. It made the weather cooler and we felt a lot better. The downside is that it was hard to dry the clothes that I washed. We have no dryer, our clothes are sun-dried but since it was raining, it took a couple of days to dry it. I still have more clothes to wash but I'll do it when the rain stop and the sun will come out.

Old Carpenter

The carpenter whom I hired to build a built-in closet in our bedroom messed up with the measurements. Well, what could I expect, he's already old, 76 years old and his vision is not that clear. I should have terminated him on the second day but my compassion for him prevailed. Besides I didn't know other carpenter in our place. The first carpenter that I talked to and agreed to build my closet had hurt his hand so he can't work. His dad recommended that old carpenter and when I've seen him I was already wondering if he can build a closet because he was skinny and old. He was even bragging that he can build a nice closet with secret shelf to hide money, jewelry or a gun. I thought I should give him a chance to prove himself. I thought he was a good carpenter but I was wrong. He was so slow and his measurements were not accurate. He messed up many times with his measurements because he easily forgets.. I told him that he should have wrote down the measurements in a piece of paper so he wont forget. I also told him that my youngest brother has volunteered to build it but I said I will hire a skilled carpenter so there would be no mistake but look what I hired!

He was able to form the closet on the 6th day but when he let it stand so he can nail it on the wall, he can't make it stand because it reached up until the ceiling. My hubby and 2 brothers were there to help but it won't stand. Holy guacamole! The carpenter wanted to cut the bottom of the closet so it will stand but hubby said to stop him. Enough is enough. My 2 brothers were the ones criticizing his work and told him his mistake. They told him that he's been working on it for 6 days but he wasn't able to make it stand. It's a good thing I kept my cool and held my temper. I didn't say harsh words to embarrass him. I just told him that my brother will be the one to fix it whatever mistake he has made. I gave him his pay and sent him home. Hubby asked me why I didn't flare up. He knew me that if I don't like the outcome, I easily lose my temper. I said if I did flare up and said nasty words to him, I would be talk of the town now. I didn't let the enemy get an edge and I thank God for helping me control my temper.

My brother and hubby had been fixing all the mistakes done by the old carpenter. Hopefully by tomorrow, the retouching and sanding will be done so it would be ready to be painted.

Built-In Closet For Our Bedroom

This is the 2nd day that the carpenter that I hired is building the built-in closet in our bedroom. I hope he will finish it in 4 days so I can put all our clothes that are still in the box right now. Hubby and I got lots of clothes and it seems that I keep adding to it. Every time we go to the mall, I can't resist the urge to buy clothes, clothes and more clothes. My excuse to hubby is my clothes are already old and out of style so I want to buy the latest fashion and design. Hubby will just smile because he knows that the money I use in shopping is my blogging money.

Beat The Heat In The Beach

I know this is a late post and I'm sorry if I've been lagging behind. I've been too occupied for the past few days. Besides, it's been too hot here lately, it was in the 90s and it made me sweat a lot. I felt so uneasy and uncomfortable. To beat the heat, my family and I went to the beach last weekend and dipped ourselves in the water. We brought with us some foods for lunch. I don't know why but whenever we are in the beach, I have a very good appetite. I ate too much and after that I felt sorry because I know I've been gaining weight. The last time I hit the scale, I had gained 10 lbs since we were here. I don't really like it but I can't help eating those yummy foods that my brother had been cooking. My hubby had also gained a lot of weight. We have to do something. We need to shed off those excess pounds. Anyways, we had a good time at the beach and we also bought a lot of fish there before we went home.

Shopping Time

It's been raining here since Monday but despite the rain, we went to the mall yesterday with my hubby, sis and brother Albin . We went to buy some groceries in Super 8 grocery. But before going to the grocery located on the first floor, we went first to Unitop department store located in the 2nd floor. My sis and I bought some t-shirts and underwears. Their price is so affordable and it was my 2nd time already to shop some t-shirts there. While my sis and I were busy going through those shirts and fitting it, my hubby and my brother were on the other section and I didn't know what they're up to. When my sis and I checked out, we saw them sitting and waiting outside the department store. Hubby showed me his loot, it was a box of tools. We then proceeded to the grocery and bought some can goods and mostly crackers and snacks. It was already dark when we drove home.

I Thank God

I know I missed a lot of opps last month because we had no internet for more than a month. I just grabbed a few opps whenever I had the chance to go to the internet cafe. When I calculated my earnings that was deposited in my Paypal for the past month, surprisingly it was more than what I expected. In fact, I made more last month than the previous month. Though I only had few opps last month, I was fortunate to be able to grab some high paying opps. Also a friend of ours in Texas had sent us some money as her help for our ministry here. Thank you very much Ms. Sue. You're such a blessing to us. I give God all the glory, honor and thanksgiving for all the things that He has done and He's going to do in our lives. To God be the glory!

Blogging To The Max

Hey guys, I have good news today! We got our phone and internet connection back yesterday afternoon after more than a month of waiting for the company to fix it. I'm so glad because I can update my blogs more often now. Unlike before, I can only do so whenever I get the chance to go to the internet cafe. My time was limited because my hubby was always waiting on me to go back home. Now, I can blog until the wee hours of the night like I'm doing right now. I can also grab more opps and visit other blogs now. Thank you guys for visiting me here during my absence. I will make it up to ya'll. Now my blogging addiction is back as my hubby said and I don't deny it.

No More Maid

I've been sad the past few days because our maid Jenny left last Wednesday. She said her aunt will send her to school and it's been her dream to finish even just a vocational course. It was a sudden decision and she didn't even give us a few days notice so we can find somebody to replace her. I wasn't able to sleep the night before she left because I've been thinking where we can find somebody to replace her beside the fact she became so dear and close to us already. She's a hard worker and she's trustworthy. She worked in our house for 9 months. My brother hired her to take care of their baby before he left for Singapore. When my brother came back home after a couple of months they were supposed to send her home but I told them not to because we will be the one to pay her wages so we can have a helper in the house. I like Jenny because she do her job well. Now she's gone and it's hard to find somebody like her. Before she left, I hugged her and told her that just in case she wants to come back she's always welcome. Both of us were teary-eyed.

I'm Here Again

I'm back here at the internet cafe because until now our internet connection is not yet restored. I don't come here everyday so I can only update my blog whenever I get the chance to come here in the cafe. Well, I'm keeping my fingers cross that we can get back our internet connection within this week. It's almost a month now since we lost our connection due to typhoon damage. It's been raining here lately so even though want to come here in the cafe, I get lazy because the road is wet. It's still humid despite of the rain.

No Internet Yet

We don't have yet our internet connection so I'm back here again in the internet cafe. I don't know when are they going to fix our phone line. One thing I can say, the service here is so bad and I'm really disgusted because I already missed a lot of opps. My earnings this month is low compared last month. Imagine it's almost 3 weeks already that we don't have phone and internet service. Too bad.

I'm Back

Hey guys, it's good to be back in the blogging world! It's been 2 weeks that I was in hiatus and the main reason is we had no internet connection. Our phone line was damaged by the typhoon and until now it's not yet restored. My sister who works in the same phone company told me last night that we might get our phone and internet service back some time this week. The company ran out of cable wires and that's the reason why they can't work on the phone line yet. I hope we can have our internet connection soon. I missed blogging and I already missed a lot of opps. Meanwhile, I have to come here in the internet cafe and blog for now. It's good to be back.

We Enjoyed Our Vacation Here In Baguio

We're still in Baguio right now and this morning my hubby and I went walking early in the morning and we went to Cueva's Bakery in Kayang Rd. to buy some pandesal. I really love their pandesal because it's so soft, packed and so yummy. I can eat a whole bunch in just one setting. I won't get tired eating it. We're fixing to go to SM in a little while. We have to buy barako coffee for hubby because he just love the aroma of this coffee. Then this afternoon we'll be heading back to the lowland. We've been here in Baguio for 2 weeks and we enjoyed our stay here. Hubby and I had been going on a walk a few times a day. He said he love it here because the weather now is like spring. We really enjoyed our vacation here. We'll be coming back here again soon, God's willing.

Slow Internet Connection

What the heck is happening to our internet connection? It's so slow the past couple of days. We are using a DSL but it's slower than dial-up. It takes forever to download a site so I can't visit other blogs now. I don't know if it has something to do with the weather here in Baguio. It has been raining here for more than a week now. Our internet connection was not this slow before. I hope whatever the problem is, it will be fixed soon so I can browse the internet faster.

I Love Chayote Tops

One vegetable that I really missed to eat when I was in the states is chayote tops. The stores there don't sell it even in the Asian stores. They sell the chayote fruits but not the tops so I had to contend myself eating camote tops there because I had planted it in our backyard.

Here in Baguio, I have chayote tops for free because it grow in the backyard of my brother-in-law's house where we are staying now. In fact, I gathered a lot of chayote tops for our lunch today. My 10 year old nephew MakMak had helped me to get the chayote tops at the backyard. I instructed him where to cut it and he had fun gathering it. I boiled it and dipped it with Bragg's liquid aminos and vinegar. Hubby and I ate it with fried fish. I love veggies and fish. It was so yummy! Here's a photo of the chayote at the backyard.

Went To Visit The Philippine Military Academy

Hubby and I are back in Baguio once again. My hubby had been bugging me the past few weeks to come up here but since we had our room renovated, we just can't leave right there and then. Now that our room is almost finished, we decided to come up here to escape the summer heat in the lowland. Yes, it's getting hotter there now but thank God we're relieved with the cool climate here in Baguio. It was even showering this afternoon when we went to SM City. The weather here is like spring in the US, nice and cool. We sure miss the spring season in Texas where the wildflowers grow along the roads, highways and in the country which makes Texas so pretty especially with it's famous blue bonnet flowers. It's a good thing that Baguio's climate is cool and it has lots of colorful flowers too so we won't miss Texas that much. We can always come here whenever we want to escape the heat in the lowland. Here are some photos that we took when we went to PMA- Philippine Military Academy. We enjoyed the clean surroundings, colorful flowers and nice view.

Our Clothes Shrunk!

My hubby and I already gained weight since we've been here in my home land. We've been here for more than three months already and some of my clothes are getting tighter. Hubby's belly is getting bigger too. I was even teasing my hubby that his clothes and mine had shrunk, LOL! I have more appetite to eat here with my family and of course I eat mostly fish and veggies, sometimes we eat meat but only once in a while. I also drink my lemon or calamansi juice early in the morning right after I get up so it will help me control gaining weight. Sometimes I drink a lot of water if I ran out of fresh calamansi. This will also help to lose weight.

Shopping Blues

After we returned the cool fan that we bought yesterday at Ace Hardware in Rosales, we had to shop for items in exchange for the said fan. They wouldn't want to give back our money so hubby and I had to roam around the store and looked for items to buy. We ended up buying 2 gallons of paint for our room, 3 bottles of sealants or gap filler to fill the gaps of the plywood joints, shower curtain rod, AVR for hubby's power tools, rechargeable lamp and a bottle of glass cleaner. We exceeded the amount of the cool fan by P38.00 so hubby had to pay it. Then we went to eat our lunch at Jollibee inside SM City. Hubby's favorite there is the Champ hamburger sandwich because it's big and I got him a yum burger and soda. I ordered a meal with pancit palabok, chicken joy with gravy, sweet corn with carrots and 2 small brownies which I gave to my hubby. That was our lunch for the day.

Return But No Refund

Yesterday while my hubby and I was in SM Rosales and we were not able to withdraw money using our debit cards, we decided to buy groceries using our debit cards. We just went there last Saturday and we bought a lot of groceries but there were some stuffs that I was not able to buy so I bought it yesterday. I just bought few items yesterday. Then we went to Ace Hardware and my hubby bought the cool fan that can be filled with cold or iced water and it will blow and circulate cool air. He wanted that so we can save money by not using our AC. Our electric bill kept going up since we were using our AC. To our dismay, the cool fan which was supposed to blow cool air didn't do well it's job. In fact, our Hanabishi stand fan is a lot cooler and stronger. So early this morning, my hubby and I went to return it to Ace Hardware in SM Rosales. They didn't give back our money though. They told us that we can exchange the item with other items with equal total value as with the warm errrrr cool fan.

This is one thing that I miss in the US. You can return the item you purchased and they will give back your money as long as you have your receipt but not here in the Philippines. You can return but you have to exchange the item with another item/s because they won't give back your money. Too bad...

Can't Withdraw Money Using Our Debit Cards

I don't know what's wrong with our debit cards but my hubby and I can't withdraw money from the ATM machines here in the Philippines. We tried to withdraw from different banks here but we got frustrated because the ATM machine said temporarily unavailable. Hubby and I ran out of cash already. It's a good thing that we were able to use our debit cards in the grocery stores like SM, Super 8 and Magic Mall. We were able to withdraw from over the counter cash advance machine in Banco De Oro in Carmen, Rosales once but too bad, their machine was not working yesterday when we went there to withdraw. That's the only bank I know that has cash advance machine near our town. Imagine our disappointment, we made a special trip to go there but we were not able to withdraw cash. My hubby and I tried alternately to withdraw from the ATM machine using our debit cards but no cash came out. It's not that we don't have money in the bank, of course we have but I just felt embarrassed for not being able to withdraw money because the people next to us were looking. We need to contact our bank in the US and ask why we can't withdraw money using our debit cards here in the Philippines. As a last resort yesterday, I withdraw money from our Metrobank account here using my debit card. I only got a small amount though because that account of us don't have much available balance.

What I did so we can have cash, I sent money to my hubby from our bank in the US using Xoom last night and this morning, we went to get the money in Cebuana Lhuillier in Binalonan. Now our wallets have some cash. In the US, we're used to shop using our debit cards unlike here in the Philippines that only few stores accept debit cards when you buy something. That's what I miss in the US, shopping using my plastic money.

Letter To God

I got this from my e-mail and this is great! In fact I had a good laugh after reading it. It really made my day! They said that laughter is the best medicine. I agree with that. It's time to laugh folks. Read on.

There was a man who worked for the post office whose job was to proces s
all the mail with illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed
in a shaky handwriting to "God" with no actual address. He thought he
should open it to see what it was about. The letter read:

Dear God,

I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday
someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had
until my next pension payment. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had
invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have
nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn to, and you are my only

Can you help me? Please, hear my prayer.

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other
workers. Each one dug into their wallet and managed to come up with a
few dollars.

By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which he put into
an envelope and sent back to the woman's return address. The rest of the
day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner
she would be able to share with her friends.

Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the
same old lady to "God". All the workers gathered around while the letter
was opened.

It read:

Dear God,

How can I ever thank you for what you did for me? I now truly believe in
God, and in Miracles. Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a
glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told them
of your wonderful gift.. By the way, I noticed there was $4 missing. I
think it might have been those bastards at the post office.

Our Room Is Still Under Renovation

The renovation of our room is not yet completely done. My two brothers are still working right now. They're now putting the ceiling and they were telling me it's so hot up there. I hope they would be done with the ceiling tomorrow. My hubby had been painting the walls but he ran out of paint. We need to buy at least 2 gallons more. After the painting we will put some vinyl tiles and then I want a spacious built-in closet for our clothes. I wanted some glazed tiles but my hubby didn't agree maybe because the house is not really ours. It belongs to my aunt. When we have the money he wants to buy a house and lot in Baguio City. For the mean time, we have to stay in this house so we can concentrate in our ministry and do the work for the Lord. Our room is now doubled in size and I'm looking forward to arrange and decorate it the way I want it to be.

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everybody! Christ is risen and He's alive forevermore. We had our Easter service this morning with my family, friends and loved ones. We sang praise and worship songs, hymns and then my hubby gave the message about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After his message, we sang the song "Alive Forevermore." Then we had our lunch at my sister's porch. We had 2 roasted chicken, grilled catfish and milkfish. We had also vegetable salad and edible seaweeds which we call ar-arosep. We had lemon iced tea as drinks and melon ice candy for dessert. We had a great time celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lunch After Our Service

After we had our service last Sunday, my hubby and I together with my siblings and there families went out to eat at Luisito's Seafood Restaurant. We're supposed to go at Matutina's Restaurant but that place was jam packed. Luisito's Seafood Restaurant is just across Matutina's and it was not crowded. The waiters even met us with their umbrellas when we got off from the van. We ordered sisig na bangus (that was so yummy), pork sisig, kaldereta, bistek tagalog, ginataang sitaw at kalabasa, sweet and sour fish, chopsuey, softdrinks and of course a lot of rice. There were 13 of us adults and 2 babies. The foods at Luisito's are good and we want to go back there again next time. We went home full and satisfied.

We Went Out Walking

Whew! It's getting hot here now in the Philippines while it's spring time in the US. Spring is my favorite season there. But the heat here is bearable, unlike the summer heat in Texas which is soooo hot. Even in the morning there, it was already hot and instead of walking outside, I just had to walk in my treadmill in our house. I really didn't enjoy summer in Texas, in fact I dread it. There was one time that my hubby and I were out at around 2:00 PM there and the AC of our truck was not working. OMG, I felt like I was burning. I was so scared I would have another stroke. It's good I brought water with me and it helped me cool down a little bit after I drank it.

Hubby and I went to Urdaneta City today. I was telling my hubby that summer here in the Philippines is not as hot as in Texas. I can tolerate the heat here. Hubby and I went out walking around our town plaza this afternoon and yesterday and both of us were sweating when we got home. We will try to go out walking daily. We need to exercise so we'll lose weight. We both gained weight since we were here. Some of my clothes were already tight and I don't like gaining weight.

Join Me In Facebook

I haven't been to my Friendster page too often lately. It's like I lost interest in this site because I got tired changing the codes in my template because they always change the codes. Besides, Friendster had lots of virus. My new interest now is Facebook. I joined this site before hubby and I came back here in the Philippines. I think this website is a lot better than Friendster. I can chat with my friends if they're online. It has lots of features that Friendster don't have. I uploaded a lot of our photos there already. I signed up my hubby too and he's been chatting to his kids there. He seems to enjoy it and he's not been in Friendster for quite some time now. You can view my Facebook by clicking HERE.

We'll Go To The Beach Again

We'll be going to the beach again this coming Sunday morning. We will have our service there. My hubby will be baptizing 5 people in the beach that day. We are excited to see people get saved and be baptized and I believe that God is pleased the most to see people delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated to the kingdom of Light. Great is thy faithfulness O Lord.

Buying Groceries

My hubby and I have been to the groceries here in the Philippines many times already. I've been to SM Mall Of Asia grocery, SM Baguio, CSI Warehouse in Dagupan and Magic Mall in Urdaneta. Boy, I was surprised to see the prices of goods skyrocketed since we left the country! Whenever we go and pay in the cash register, the total was in the thousands. I'm not used in paying thousands of pesos in buying groceries because in the US, we only spend about a hundred bucks when we go to the grocery. Paying two thousand pesos for the groceries sound that much but when we converted it to US dollars, it's only more than 40 bucks. Not really that bad. I guess I have to get used to spending pesos again and not be shocked when paying groceries by the thousands. The rate of US dollar yesterday was $1 = P47.90, the other day it was P48.20 so it's fluctuating. It went up since we arrived here in the Philippines though. It was only P46.50 for $1 when we got here last January.
