Looking Back...

It's exactly 5 years today since I first step foot in this land of the free and the home of the brave wherein most people in my country are dying to see. I still remember, my hubby and I left NAIA (the airport in Manila) at about 12:30 midnight. Before boarding the plane I was so excited and I told myself, "America here I come", lol! Well, that was my first time to ride a plane and I had mixed feelings, nervous and excited. We had a smooth flight from Manila to Korea and I managed to have a little nap.We took the Korean airlines and we had a 7 hour layover in Korea. Oh my, that was a long wait for me. I was so eager to see USA.

Then finally we boarded the plane that will take us to Texas. It was a very long trip and the flight was not as smooth as the previous one. We encountered a lot of turbulence during the flight. At first I got so nervous, it feels like there was an earthquake inside the plane, lol! But after a while I got used to it and I got to enjoy the trip. The stewardees had served good food and hubby and I enjoyed it. I looked around the other passengers and some of them were sound asleep and some even laid down on the vacant seats. I wonder how they managed to sleep inside the plane. Maybe some of them travel by plane often and they got used to flying. But me, that was my first time and I can't sleep while flying. Besides I got a lot of things in my head like what will my life be like in the US and I thought of my family that I left in the Philippines. Sure thing I gonna miss them.

Then after long hours of flying we were finally in the US territory. I was so excited to take a glimpse of how the US look like so I asked my hubby to exchange seat with me so I can sit by the window. I took a peek outside and all I've seen were trees and buildings. When we finally landed and got our baggage, hubby and I were in the lobby of DFW airport and there we were met by his 2 lovely daughters. I was glad to see them, my new family here. While we were on our way to the house I just kept looking around. I said to myself, so this is it, this is USA...my home for the last 5 years until we go back to the Philippines. Dreams do come true. I thank the Lord for bringing me here.

Google Strikes Again!

The high and mighty Google strikes again. Two of my blogs with PR had been affected. My food blog was down from PR 2 to PR 1. I didn't wonder no more because I've been doing paid blogging in this blog. It's a good thing the PR 2 stayed in that blog of mine for more than 4 months before it was reduced to PR 1. I had made some money doing paid blogging in that blog of mine. But what really puzzled me is my blog Precious Words which is not doing sponsored reviews but purely inspirational, devotional and personal testimonies of me and my hubby. It has a PR 2 for a long time but the PR was ripped off just today and it's now PR 0. So even blogs that doesn't do paid blogging were affected. Or maybe Google doesn't like our blog because we're sharing the Word of God to others? Makes me wonder. But anyway, my hubby and I will still continue sharing the gospel to others in that blog. Nobody can stop us. We have to do the great commission of Jesus Christ,"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15

Hubby Is Getting Addicted Too

My hubby has been spending most of his free time now infront of the computer. Since I signed him up in Friendster, he's been having a great time viewing other profiles and inviting friends to add him up. He was also sending messages and comments to those in his friends' list. I think I made a mistake in signing him up huh! It's like he's been addicted now in this friendster thing. My hubby is my co-author in my other blog Precious Words but it seems like he's spending more of his time now in Friendster. We need to get a router so we can use the PC and laptop at the same time because when he's in the computer I have to wait till he's done. I thought before that I was the only one addicted to computer but my hubby is now getting addicted too. I think it's my fault because I got him into it.

My Naturalization Oath Ceremony Is Scheduled

More than a week ago, I called the office of our congressman here in our city. I talked to the secretary who is in charge of the immigration paper works. I asked her to follow up in the office of the USCIS when will be the schedule of my oath ceremony. It’s been 3 months since I had my citizenship interview and I passed it. I already submitted all the police clearance from the 3 cities where I resided for the past 5 years that they required me to submit since the FBI can’t read my finger prints. But I haven’t heard from the USCIS since then. It’s not my fault that they can’t read it after two times of going to their office to have my finger prints taken. Maybe they need to update their computers so they will have no problem. It had caused me delay to swear in. The long wait was killing me.

This morning, I heard the postman dropped the mails in the mailbox on our porch so I went out to get them. Most were shopping catalogs, I got 3 of them mind you. These companies want my money and they are enticing me to shop from them online. Well, I got some mails too and guess what? I was so happy when I saw the mail from the USCIS. I quickly went inside and opened the mail. It was written there the schedule of my oath ceremony! At last, after a very long wait, I will finally swear in as a US Citizen on October 2 at Arlington, more than 2 hours drive from our place. I called my hubby right away and informed him about it. Both of us were so happy. Then I called the secretary of our congressman and thank her for helping me follow up my papers. I was so grateful to her and she was so happy for me too. I called her September 16 to follow-up my case and the letter from the USCIS was dated September 19. It was so quick, huh! I told the secretary that I should have called her earlier so I didn’t have to wait that long. This is the 2nd time that she helped me. The first time was 3 years ago when I was waiting for the approval of the the removal of my conditional status. It took me forever to wait that time but after I called the congressman’s secretary, it didn’t take long and then I received the approval of my application.

My hubby and I have been praying daily that I will get my naturalization certificate soon and God answered our prayers. After I will get my citizenship certificate, I will apply for a US passport. Next I’m going to apply for a dual citizenship and then we’ll go back to the Philippines and start a ministry there for the Lord. Hubby and I believe with all our hearts that God will grant us our hearts’ desire in His perfect time. We are also praying that God will send us a buyer of our house. I believe that all things work together for good, to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

We Went On Visitation

Yesterday morning, our pastor's wife, Ms. Marsha and I went to visit some ladies in our church. The first lady we went to visit was not in her house so we just left a note that we stopped by her house to see her but we missed her. Then we went to another house of one of our ladies and we stopped by. It so happened that the next lady we went to visit was the mom of the first lady that we went to visit but she was not there. Guess what? She was in her mom's house. We were happy to see both mom and daughter. It's like we hit 2 birds in 1 stone in our next stop. So we chatted for a while and before we left, we joined hands and Ms. Marsha said a prayer. We went to visit one more elderly lady and we had a good conversation with her. Those ladies that we visited were so sweet and I love them. They're like mom to me. It made me miss my late mom whenever I see older ladies. I love talking to them. Before we left the last lady we visited, Ms. Marsha said a prayer for her. I had a good time doing the visitation. Hope to do it again next week.

Ladies' Fellowship

Yesterday night, we had the ladies' fellowship in our church. I almost forgot about it though. I was busy cooking our supper at 6:00 PM when suddenly I remembered that we have the ladies' fellowship at 7:00 PM. My hubby told me to stop whatever I'm cooking but it's a good thing that I was almost done cooking all my vegetables. I went to get ready, showered and changed my clothes. My vegetables were cooked before I left the house. We had a good attendance of the ladies who attended the fellowship last night. The hosts prepared German snacks and drink and we really enjoyed it. We had also a game and then our pastor's wife gave here devotional. Hubby came to pick me up a few minutes after we dismissed. Next month, it's me and our pastor's wife who will host the ladies' fellowship.

First Day Of Fall

Fall season officially starts today though it has been cooler these past few days. I love the temperatures these days and I just wish it will be like this all year long. I know it will never happen because God created 4 seasons here in the US. That's why we will not get bored having the same temperature and season all year long. Unlike in the Philippines, we only have 2 seasons there, the wet and dry season. Fall and spring seasons are my favorite seasons here in the US. I don't really care about winter and summer but they are all part of God's wonderful creation. We have to live with it and thank God for giving us the four seasons of our lives.

It's Sunday, The Day Of The Lord

It's the day of the Lord today and my hubby woke up early and cooked our breakfast. He cooked biscuits and scrambled eggs. When I awoke, breakfast was ready and I just ate. Hubby had eaten already and he was in the bathroom shaving and getting ready for church. We went to church together and we attended the Sunday School. We were earlier this time. We used to be late in attending the Sunday School. After the Sunday School, we had our worship service and our beloved pastor delivered a very inspiring message found in John 4: 39-42. We had a tremendous service and I got so blessed with our pastor's message. It's is really good to go and worship and meet the Lord on Sundays.

After the church's service, my hubby and I went to buy our lunch at Burger King. We ordered steak burger meal and because we have a coupon, we got a free steak burger sandwich with the meal purchase. I just added 8 pieces of chicken tenders and then we had our lunch to go and ate our lunch at home. It was my first time to eat the steak burger meal but it doesn't taste that good to me. I told my hubby I won't order it next time. I will just order my favorite sandwich at Burger King, the whopper sandwich.

My Sweet Potatoes (Camote)

I blogged here before that my hubby had mowed my sweet potatoes (camote) thinking it was one of those weeds. I really felt bad because I was planning to get the tops and cook it with my sinigang but before I was able to do that, my camote was mowed out. It's good it came back after a few weeks. Since then, I've been watering it daily and I was able to get the tops and cook it. I told my husband not to mow it again because they're not weeds but vegetables, he-he! Now he knows better. Here's a photo of my sweet potatoes.

Swarovski Jewelries

I posted here a couple of months ago that my sister is selling swarovski jewelries. She buys the swarovski stones and gold in Manila and she's the one making the jewelries like bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces. I've been helping her get some orders here in Texas. So far I got 6 orders already. Three of them had bent sent and 3 on the way. The ladies in our church were the ones who ordered. They have seen my swarovski jewelries and they love it so they ordered. Swarovski stones are really captivating to the eye. They sparkle like diamonds. Most of the orders I got were red, blue, crystal and black. Below are the samples.

My Brother Flew To Singapore

I've been receiving messages from my brother Celso who is in Singapore now. He flew there last Tuesday and he's now looking for a job. My hubby and I have been praying for him every night that God will give him a good job soon so he can support his family. He told me he has submitted his resume to a few companies already.

Before my brother flew to Singapore, I had the opportunity to lead him and his wife to the Lord. The Holy Spirit has been leading me to witness to them boldly and so I did. I've been praying for my brother and his wife for a long time to get saved and last Thursday, the Lord had answered my prayers. I can't explain the joy I felt when I led two souls who are dear to me to the Lord. A couple of days after they got saved, I talked to my sister-in-law and she told me that my brother has been reading his Bible, they pray together at night and he gave up drinking beer. His friends had been inviting him to drink beer but he turned it down. Oh, I was so happy to hear that! My sister-in-law thanked me but I told her it's the good Lord who changes lives. I'm just a tool that He used to led them to the Lord. Read the whole story on how I led my brother and his wife to the Lord by clicking HERE.

Bell Peppers In My Garden

I was having a great time yesterday looking at my garden. My bell peppers are so green and they yielded lots of bell peppers this time. In fact I picked some of it and mixed it with the chicken afritada that I cooked yesterday. I was not contented looking at it that I went inside the house, got my camera and took several photos of my bell peppers. I was so delighted that my garden is doing good. The rain had helped a lot and also the weather is getting cooler this time of the year which is a great factor that helped my veggies. By the way, all my vegetables are organic. I don't use fertilizers or pesticides. Here are the photos of my bell peppers.

Ladies' Retreat

Last Friday and Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend the Ladies' Retreat at Grayson Bible Baptist Church in Sherman, TX. I went with the ladies in our church and it was truly a blessing. I was so thankful to our pastor's wife for inviting me to go there and paid the registration for me. I've been praying to the good Lord to give me the strength that I needed and also to be able to sleep as I've been having problems getting sleep lately. The Lord heard my prayer and I was able to go. There were many ladies who attended the retreat from different churches in Texas. The speakers were all pastor's wives and they were all so good. Their messages were all so encouraging and the Lord spoke to my heart while I was listening to the message on Saturday. It really touched my heart as I was having some health issues lately that I developed anxiety and sleepless nights. During the invitation, I went to the altar with my friend and I poured out my heart to God. I cried and cried there and it made me feel lighter after that. We had a good time there and I attended the Cookie class and I learned how to make and decorate cookies.

The foods were great and I ate to my heart's delight. That church was big, clean, well decorated and very nice church. I can't help myself but to compare it with our churches in the Philippines. This country is so blessed that they have all the comfort and luxury in all the churches here. I just wish we have also there in the Philippines the church buses that they have here in bringing kids to the church. There are lots of kids there who are out of church on Sundays because nobody cares to invite and take them to church. This is now the burden in my heart and also my hubby, to see people get saved in the Philippines.

Anyways, I really had a great time at the retreat. I am so thankful and grateful to our pastor and his wife Ms. Marsha for making it possible for me to attend. They are God-sent to me and they are truly a blessing to my life. I praise God for that and to God be the glory forever and ever.

My String Beans and Bitter Gourd

I harvested string beans and my bitter gourd from my garden yesterday. I cut the string beans and blanched it. After that I put it in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer. I cooked the bitter gourd with ground beef, tomatoes and eggs. My American husband love it. He said it taste so good. I still have more bitter gourd coming. I gonna harvest them in a few days. It's raining outside now and I'm sure my veggies will perk up some more.

My Squash

My vegetable garden is still thriving especially my squash. It give me lots of flowers everyday and sometimes I even get lazy to go and pick them up. This morning though, I went to pick up the flowers and I've seen that there were a lot of small squash coming out. I will be harvesting them in a couple of weeks from now. I can't eat all these squash so I will just give some of it to my friends in the church like what I did last year.

Health Issues

I don't spend a lot of time now infront of my PC. I'm taking it easy since I'm not feeling good lately. I have ringing in my ears and I don't know what's the cause. It maybe my sinuses but it sure affected my sleep. I can't sleep good for the past few days and last night I didn't sleep at all. I keep tossing in my bed and I even disturbed my hubby. I have requested my church to pray for me and I really need prayer warriors so this health issue of mine will be healed. My apology to my co-bloggers if I can't visit your blogs lately. I will in due time. I praise God for all the things He has done to me. God is always good.

Talked To My Brother

I talked to my brother online using the webcam last night. He told me that his wife and baby were at home. Since his wife went out of the hospital after she gave birth, they stayed at her parents' home. Her mom helped her take care of baby Vernice Julia. So last night, I was able to see the baby in the webcam. My hubby was here too and both of us talked to my brother and his wife. The baby is so cute and healthy. She is now 5 weeks old. I told my brother I'm sure he gonna miss his baby and his wife when he go to Singapore to look for a job. He's booked to fly there on the 16th September. I took these photos while talking to them online using the webcam.

Summer Is Almost Over

It rained tonight here so it's a little cooler. I can't wait till summer is over. Fall is just 3 weeks away. I'm eagerly anticipating it. I just don't like the summer heat. Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons here in the US. I can't wait to welcome the cooler season.

Busy Weekend

Hubby and I had been busy during the weekend. We were invited by our pastor and his wife at their house to have supper with them. It was our first time to go to their house. They have a nice house and it was very clean and orderly. Our pastor's wife had prepared a good meal and my hubby and I really enjoyed our fellowship with them. It was really good to have fellowship with our fellow Christians. We talked about different things and also about our plans in going back to the Philippines in God's perfect time. Then before we left, we held hands together and we prayed. We had such a good time. While we were there, my step-daughter, Shelly and Josh arrived in our house. We were so delighted to have them us. They spent the night and they went with us to church the next day. I've been waiting for them to come over and spent the night with us. They went home yesterday afternoon. I cooked pancit and puto for them to take home. Hubby and I enjoyed their company and we wish they will come again next time.
