My Hubby Preached During Song and Preach Fest

It's the 5th Sunday of the month today and as usual, we had the songfest and preachfest in our church this afternoon which started at 5:00 PM. We do this every 5th Sunday of the month. There were many people who signed up for the singing and preaching. My hubby was the first one who preached. It's supposed to be a 5 minute preaching for each preacher but hubby preached longer than that. He preached maybe around 10-15 minutes. He's not used to preaching short messages. While he was preaching I took photos of him but I turned off the flash of my digicam so as not to distract the audience's attention. It's the reason why the photos are not that clear.

Then after my hubby preached, Chris, a 15 year old teenager preached too. It was his first time to go up the pulpit and preached. It blessed my heart to see young people volunteer to preach the Word of God.

There were 6 preachers who participated in the preachfest in our church this afternoon but I forgot to take photos of the rest.
Below are some of the photos I took of those who participated in the songfest.

After the program, we had some foods at the dining hall. I brought some spring rolls. There were lots of foods and desserts and as usual, I got full.

Kids at VBS

This past week, our church had the Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the kids. There were an average of 50 kids who attended each day. The VBS started last Monday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and ended last Friday. Hubby and I were able to attend Wednesday night. The kids were all so enthusiastic to learn and participate in the activities. They had also some crafts like making beads bracelets. I had fun assisting them how to make their bracelets. While they were instructed to put the beads one by one, the teacher asked them what does each color reminds them of. Then she will tell the kids what the color of each beads stands for. The yellow or gold reminded her about heaven because the Bible says that we will walk in the streets of gold in heaven. The black stands for our sins. The red reminded her of the blood of Jesus that was shed for our sins and the white stands for purity. Each kid has made her/his own bracelet. Then they had snacks. How blessed the kids are in this country. In the Philippines, we also had VBS in our church but it's not as fabulous as the VBS here in the US. Some bigger churches here even have inflatable games, ventriloquist and other attractions. Our pastor announced this morning that there were 5 kids who got saved and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior during the VBS. That's the purpose of VBS, to broadcast the gospel so people get saved.

I took photos during the VBS and here are some of it.

There was this little girl who was so cute and she even wanted hubby to hold her. She was holding hubby's leg and wanted hubby to carry her. See was a cutie!

Busy In My Garden

My vegetable garden in our backyard is flourishing now. My squash is growing fast and spreading. In fact I have already harvested lots of squash flowers and I put them in my fridge. I still have some frozen squash flowers from last year. I have also seen a couple of small squash coming out. This morning, I pulled out the weeds that are growing fast and competing with my squash. I was in my garden early this morning before I ate my breakfast and I didn't noticed the time. I was so preoccupied pulling out the weeds and cleaning my garden. Then I watered my vegetables. While I was in my garden, the neighbor's dogs had seen me and they barked at me. I told those dogs to shut up. Those dogs get into my nerves. The loosed dog that I blogged the other day is tied now. But I have to look at him once in a while to be sure he doesn't get loosed. I already had the phobia that he will get loosed and will come to our yard and bite me. Pitbull dogs can't be trusted. It was already late when I ate my breakfast this morning. I had to finish my task in my garden before it gets too hot outside. Then I went in and had my breakfast. By the way, I took some photos of my squash the other day. Want some flowers?

Scared By A Dog

This morning I was at the backyard and I just opened the gate leading to my vegetable garden to gather the squash flowers when the neighbor's dog ran towards me and kept barking. I was so terrified and I had to back off and closed the gate. The dog kept on barking at me. I threw him bricks and anything that I can grab I threw it to that damn dog. Then I went inside the house. I was mad because I wasn't able to get the flowers of my squash. That dog used to be tied at our neighbor's backyard but it got loosed. Their backyard is just beside my vegetable garden and I always see those dogs whenever I am in my garden but they were tied. My neighbor has a lot of dogs. Our fence is just a cyclone wire so I can see the dogs and they can see me too.

I went inside the house then I decided to go to my neighbor's house to tell them that their dog in their backyard got loosed and they need to tie it. I knocked their door many times but nobody opened it. So what I did, I went back to our house and called the Animal Control. I told them what happened and they came and talked to my neighbor. I've seen the officers at my neighbor's front yard talking with my neighbor. Then they left. I was still scared to go to my garden at the back though. I'll wait for my hubby to check if the dog is already tied. I called him by the way and told him what happened. He said that I should have not called the Animal Control. I told him why shouldn't I. The dog scared me and almost bit me had I not backed off and closed the backyard's gate. I told my hubby if that damn dog will get loosed again and come to my garden, I gonna poison her. Hubby said I shouldn't do that. He said he'd rather shoot that dog. I told him that's better, he-he-he!!!

This Is Amazing

A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?' The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.'

To which, his father said 'Yes' .

For those who didn't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island .

Father and son went on to complete the race together. View this:

Lunch At Grandy's

When we were on our way to Alvarado last Tuesday, hubby and I stopped at Highway 287 to have lunch. We wanted to go to Dairy Queen but it was on the other side of the road so we opted to go to Grandy's. I've seen in their menu that they have a country steak meal and it was their special for that day. Special means the price is discounted. So hubby and I ordered 2 steak meals with 2 side dishes each. I ordered fried rice and coleslaw for my side dish and hubby ordered macaroni and cheese and French fries. I tell you, that was the cheapest lunch we had in a long time in a restaurant. We only paid $7.98 for 2 meals. Their steak was good and they even gave us 2 dinner rolls each. I was so full after that. It was my first time to eat at Grandy's and I like it there. The next day, we went to eat again at Grandy's in Alvarado and I ordered the same menu. But it was not the special of the day so we paid more. Besides, the prices in Grandy's Alvarado are higher than in Hwy 287.

The Fate Of My Sweet Potatoes

My hubby got up early yesterday while I was still in bed fast asleep. When I got up, I looked for him and I've seen him at the backyard cleaning. He was done doing the mowing and our backyard looks clean. Of course I have my vegetables that I planted in my backyard like okra, tomatoes, collard greens, squash, beans, bitter gourd (ampalaya) and sweet potatoes (camote). He had watered them too. Then this morning, I went to harvest the squash flowers in my garden. While I was walking around, I was so devastated to see that my sweet potatoes had been mowed out. My hubby mowed it with the grass yesterday. The sweet potatoes had already a bunch of leaves and tops and I was so happy a few days ago looking at it. I was even planning to get the tops for my sinigang one of these days. But this morning, I wanted to cry because just a few vine were left in my sweet potatoes. I went inside with a single sweet potato top in my hand and I was yelling at my hubby. I asked him why on earth did he mow my sweet potatoes? He said he didn't know that it was sweet potato because it was planted in a separate corner. I told him this is the 3rd year that I planted sweet potatoes and still he can't recognize the leaves. I showed him infront of his face the sweet potato top that I was holding in my hand. I told him to memorize how the leaves look like so he will not mow it again accidentally next time. I also told him he will not get to eat my sweet potato tops when I cook sinigang because he already got his share by mowing it. Am I bad? I'm just so mad because of what happened with my sweet potatoes. I can't buy sweet potato tops here because they don't sell it in the oriental store that's why I have to plant it. I just hope that my sweet potatoes will recover soon from the devastation it received from hubby's mowing.

I'm Done With My Citizenship Interview

Boy, am I glad that I'm done with my citizenship test and interview this morning in Dallas! I've been reviewing for a couple of months and I really prepared myself for the said test and interview. I have answered all the questions and I passed it with flying colors. I will just wait for their notice for the oath-taking ceremony. After that I would be a legal US citizen and I'm going to apply for my US passport. Then that would be the end of my immigration journey. We spent a lot of money since we began filing all those papers. Their fees now have sky rocketed. We almost can't afford their fees now. My, this is a good business! But anyways, I'm so glad I'm done with the hard part. Read more about my citizenship interview HERE.

God's Pharmacy

My hubby sent this in my e-mail. My bible says that God first separated the water from the land, made the land dry, planted a garden, made animals and fish... All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We're such slow learners...

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!

God's Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Picnic At The Park

Our church held a picnic at the pavilion at Lucy Park yesterday afternoon. It started at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. We had grilled burgers, hotdogs, chips, pastas, deviled eggs, potato salad, a lot of desserts like cakes, cobblers, fruits, etc. The men were grilling the burgers and hotdogs when we arrived there. Some of the church members played volley ball while waiting for the food to be cooked. Then it was time to eat. I only ate one burger sandwich and a little pasta and it really filled me up. Even I want to eat some more but my belly can't take no more, he-he! After we ate, there was a doughnut eating contest. It was fun. I got to play at the children's playground and rode the swing. It reminds me of my childhood days. I used to ride the swing in our school when I was in grade school. It was Friday the 13th yesterday by the way. My Taiwanese friend didn't want to come because she said it's Friday the 13th. She said she doesn't wanna go out. Hubby and I told her there's nothing wrong with Friday the 13th. If you are a Christian and truly believes in God, Friday the 13th is just another ordinary day. Besides it didn't say anything in the Bible about Friday the 13th. It's just a superstitious belief of non-Christians. Anyway, we had fun yesterday at the park and we enjoyed the picnic. It was a good day!

My Peach Tree Is Bearing Fruits

My peaches are getting bigger now. Maybe in a few more weeks, they will be ripened already. This peach was given to me by one of my Filipina friends. She gave me three seedlings but only this one survived. I remember I offered to give this peach tree seedling to one of my friends when it was still in the pot. She said she didn't want it because she don't have a spot to plant it. So I decided to transplant it in the ground in front of our house. That was three years ago and look at it now. It's bearing fruits for the first time. I water it everyday so it can support all the fruits. In a few weeks time, I'll be harvesting my peaches.

Balikbayan Box For My Family

My sister in the Philippines called me yesterday afternoon. She wanted to let me know that the balikbayan box that we sent last month arrived there early in the morning. She wanted me to go online so hubby and I can watch them while they open the box. I told my sister that they have to wait till we get home from church before I can go online. When I got home, I went online at 9:00 PM, Wednesday and it was 10:00 AM, Thursday there. Everybody were present, my aunt, my 3 siblings and there spouses and kiddos. They were all excited to open and see what's inside. I sent chocolates for the kids, and also Swiss Miss which my 2 nephews requested. I also sent some canned goods for them, stuff toys and used clothes and a lot more. They were all so happy. I told them I shared my blogging money with them because that's what I used in buying those stuffs that we sent to them. They were so thankful after each got their share. They all said thank you to us. Hubby and I had fun watching them in the webcam. My aunt said she's so happy that she got her goodies and her Centrum vitamins. We told them we are happy if they are happy. My youngest nephew showed me in the webcam his Swiss Miss drink that he mixed. He said it taste good and he likes it very much. He even requested me to send him again Swiss Miss with Marshmallows next time. It fascinates me how simple things make my nephews happy. I took these photos with my webcam while I was watching them.

How Independent Am I?

I grabbed this test from Juliana (NY) and I was interested to do the test and find out the result. Financially, I'm dependent to my hubby but there are things that I can do it myself.

Your Independence Level: Very High

You do things your own way. Even if everyone else thinks you're wrong.

You cherish your freedom, and you resent rules.

No one knows what's right for you as much as you do.

You can take care of yourself... and you do a mighty fine job of it.

Friends Came By...

Yesterday after lunch, I got a call from Ms. Mareta, one of our friends in the church. She asked me where is the Asian store located at so she can buy lumpia wrappers. I have to look at the directory to find the address and I gave it to her. She then asked me if I needed anything from that store. I said no but she kept asking me so I asked her to buy 1 pack of lumpia wrappers too for me. I taught her how to make lumpia last year when they invited us to go with them to Oklahoma. Since then, she's been making her own lumpia. When she came in the house to give me the lumpia wrappers, her sister Ms. La Dale was with her. I invited them to come in and it so happened that I was cooking the leftover puto mixture that time. I asked them to stay a while and wait till the puto is cooked so they can eat. While I was steaming the puto, I decided to make lumpia because I have the fillings made a day before. I was able to make 1 dozen and I fried it. My friends enjoyed my puto and lumpia and I let them take home the left-overs.

More Blessings...

Our friends Arlene and Raul are moving to Japan two weeks from now. They are good friends of ours and hubby and I will surely gonna miss them. I told them before that I will miss the supply of crappy fish from Raul and most of all their friendship. Arlene also had given me some of her clothes in the past and some of it are still brand new with the price tags still intact. She gave me signatured bags and shoes too. Then last weekend, they came in our house and they gave us 2 balikbayan boxes and two bags full of clothes. I sorted it out yesterday and those clothes are still in very good condition and mostly signatured clothes too for me and my hubby. Some are still brand new with the price tags still intact. There are also a couple of ladies shoes, hair iron and curl and a nice display frame. I will send some of it to my family in the Philippines. I told Arlene that it's like I've been to a big garage sale with all the stuffs that they gave us. They're really a blessing to us and I pray that the good Lord will guide and protect them as they go to Japan. We told them to keep in touch with us even when they're already in another country.

My Post Was Approved

I slept late last night because I've been talking to my sister and then to my god-daughter online. I also had to finish my tasks in Social Spark which required a video to be uploaded in youtube. I did the video all by myself because my hubby was already asleep that time. Today I just checked my e-mail and my previous post was already approved for payment in 30 days. I'm so glad that I made money by making the video. My camcorder is not that great and it doesn't have a lot of great features but I'm glad I was able to make my own video. I still have one task in Social Spark waiting for another video of mine to be uploaded in youtube and another one that doesn't require a video. I have to do it today or it will expire on me. I have to take the opportunities while they are still there. They don't stay there that long you know.

Where In The World?

I'm not very fond of watching crime scene or anything that involves crime. Those scenes get into my nerves. My hubby is the one who loves to watch it. It's his favorite show and he watches it often. I just wonder how it is to be a witness of a crime and then you will be under the witness protection program. Life would not be the same no more. You have to be away from your loved ones and endure the long procedure of solving the case. You have no choice but to hide so your family and loved ones would not be involved. I just made a video pretending to be a witness and under the witness protection program. I am hiding in the lone star state, in the city called the "factory city" and it's close to Oklahoma. If you know where I am, then leave a comment.

Speaking of being a witness, there's a new tv show that just aired this month, the USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight. I'm sure my hubby would love to watch this show. This is his kind of tv show. Watch for it folks and don't miss out.

Went Shopping...

Hubby and I went to 2 stores last Saturday to buy some stuffs. First, we went to Tuesday Morning to buy gifts for Ann's baby shower. I also bought a hair iron to straighten my hair. I was having a hard time fixing my hair because of the fly-away curls and I don't like it. Then the next destination was at Target to buy a kitchen timer. I had no plans to shop for clothes but when we were there, I've seen the tank tops at the Juniors department and they were only $3 each. I ended up buying 3 tank tops for summer, 1 t-shirt and a summer sleep wear. Then when we were looking around, I've seen a stone ware pie plate so I asked hubby to buy. We got 2 of the pie plates. We also bought a 7 cup pitcher that filters water so we will not have to buy bottled water no more. Hubby said, we only went to Target to buy a kitchen timer but we ended up buying a lot of things, he-he! I told him it's only once in a while that I go to the store and shop. When we got home, I cooked chicken pot pie for our meal and I used the stone ware pie plate that we bought. My hubby loves chicken pot pie and he said I cooked it good.
