My Hubby With His Co-workers

My hubby's last day of work was last Monday. He resigned because we're going back to the Philippines and stay there for a while. On his last day of work, the teachers bought his lunch so it saved me from cooking, he-he! When he got home in the afternoon. he brought with him the cards, gifts and cash money that the teachers and the kids had given him. He let me read the cards and I was teary-eyed because the students and teachers wanted him to stay. They wrote that they gonna miss him when he leaves. I know that he felt sad too because he was really very fond of the kids in the school and also he gets along well with all the teachers there. While reading the cards I really felt how they love my hubby in the school. He made a good impression to all the people he worked with. My hubby was a good worker. In fact, even when he's not feeling well, he still go to work. It really made me upset because instead of resting, he still thinks of his work and go. I told him that his salary is not enough to cover the expenses if he gets very ill.

Last Thursday, my hubby and I attended the Christmas lunch in the school. It's the last time for him to be with his co-workers so we went and left our busy schedule of packing up our things. We did have a good lunch, lots of pasta, vegetable salad, etc. I took photos of my hubby with his co-workers. This will be his souvenir with them, something to see if he will miss his co-workers when we will be in the Philippine.

New Blog

I just created another blog folks. I hope you will visit it too by clicking here. I didn't want to make another blog but since my other blog has been flagged down by PPP, I decided to create another one. I even bought a domain because it's on sale right now at 1and1. I only paid $3.99 for my domain for 1 year and it's really a good deal. See you in my other blog entitled Memory Lane. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Christmas Cantata

Yesterday night, we had the Christmas Cantata in our church. The choir rendered Christmas carols and we really enjoyed listening to them. Our song leader, Bro. Gary did a great job in practicing the choir. I really felt the spirit of Christmas while listening to the lyrics of the songs. The choir sang those songs beautifully and I felt that they were singing with all their hearts. We celebrate Christmas because our dear Lord Jesus Christ was born here on earth in a lowly manger. He left heaven and came here on earth, suffered and died just to save us. It's my prayer that people will realize the true meaning of Christmas. Just remember that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season.

I took some photos while the choir was rendering the Christmas carols last night. Here are some of it.

Ladies Had Fun!

We had the Ladies' Christmas party last night and it was held at the Turner's house. The ladies of the Victory Baptist Church gathered together last night to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ms. Marsha hosted the party and we're so thankful to her for opening her house to us. She and the other ladies had prepared the foods and they were so yummy! After we ate, we had the exchange gifts. All the gifts were put in the middle. It's not the traditional exchange gifts that we used to do. We had to draw lots and then our numbers were called starting from number 1. As the number was called, each lady will go and choose a gift and then she will open it and put it in front of her. If the next lady who is called would want the gift that was already opened, she can steal it. I didn't do it because I wanted to see what's in those bags that were not yet opened. I was contented with what I got which were pot holders, mittens and hand towels. It's already packed in my luggage. I'll take it with me to the Philippines.

Here are some photos taken last night. I used my new Canon digicam and the photos came out crisp and clear. I'm really happy with my purchase.

My New Digital Camera- Canon PowerShot A590 IS

For the past few days, I've been busy surfing the internet reading reviews of the best selling digital cameras. I wanted to buy a new one as a back up to my old digicam which is a Nikon. I've been choosing from Sony and Canon. My first digicam was a Sony. What I like about Sony is the shutter speed and natural color of the photos. But the downside of Sony is that you only use Sony batteries and they are so pricey. Also you have to use a memory stick instead of memory cards and they cost more. After reading all the consumers' reviews from different websites, I decided to buy a Canon Powershot digital camera at Circuit City the other day because it has good reviews. It was also on sale and I got it only for $119 plus tax. The regular price was $179.99 so I saved $60. I also bought a 4GB SDHC memory card which was on sale also for only $14.99. So all in all, I paid $146.12 including the tax. I think this is a very good deal and I saved a lot of money. This is my 3rd digital camera and I hope it will last for a while. For sure I would be using this camera very often when we go back to the Philippines. My sister told me that digital cameras are so expensive in the Philippines that's why I decided to buy one for back up.

Last night, I tried to use my new camera and the photos were clear. I still have to read the manual to learn how to operate it better. So far, I'm happy with my purchase and I love my new Canon Powershot digital camera. It takes quality and exceptional photos. No wonder it has been said that this is the best selling digital camera for 2008 according to consumers' reviews.

Went To The Mall

Last Saturday, my hubby and I went to the mall to redeem the freebie that Bath and Body Works had sent me through the mail. When we arrived there, it was so hard to find a parking space in front so we ended up parking at the rear side of the mall. As always, my hubby isn't very keen to go to the mall. He said that he will just wait on me in the parking lot. But of course with my prodding and talking, he finally went with me inside the mall. Oh my, the mall was full of people! Hubby and I was surprised to see a lot of shoppers despite the economic crisis here in the US. You can't tell that our country is on recession when you go to the stores and shopping malls.

We walked to the Bath and Body Works to redeem the coupon that I have. I was to buy any item of any price and I can choose a free gift worth $13. So I just bought 2 body splash and 2 lotions and I was able to get the freebie. The cashier gave me a coupon worth $10 discount when I will buy their products worth $30 in my next shopping. While I was inside the store, my hubby was outside waiting on me. He can't stand a crowded store. I will give these stuffs that I bought as "pasalubong" when we go back to the Philippines. Below is the photo of what I got. The one in the box is my freebie.

Busy Packing

Since Monday, my hubby and I have been busy packing up our things. We filled up 4 jumbo boxes and had been picked up last Thursday to be shipped to the Philippines. We got 4 more jumbo boxes to put the things that we want to ship to the Philippines. Our house is a mess right now. Hubby had been busy shredding those old check booklets and some papers with our personal information before throwing it in the dumpster. It seems that our packing is taking most of our time. Those things that we can't send to the Philippines will be given to my step-kids. They will come and get it sometime next week. We will be vacating this house on the 3rd week of this month. Hubby and I will be moving to Alvarado and spend Christmas and New Year there with his kids. Then we will fly to the Philippines but I won't tell the date here. It will be a surprise.

I am already so excited to go back to my native land. After more than 5 years of being away from my family, I will finally see them soon. How I wish we could go there before Christmas but there are still a lot of things to be taken care of. And besides, the airfare for this month is so expensive because it's peak season. I can't wait to go home. Christmas in the Philippines is merrier and happier because there are more activities and more celebrations compared here. Anyways, I'm counting the days and I thank God for opening the doors for us to go back there. He knows our hearts' desire and out plans, to start a ministry for the Lord. Philippines, see you soon...Thank you Lord for your blessings and provisions. Words are not enough to express my heartfelt thanks Lord. You are so marvelous and great is thy faithfulness O Lord!!!

Fall Shots

Here are more photos taken last week when hubby and I went to Alvarado for Thanksgiving. The first photo is me and my step-son Steven. I asked him to have a photo with me taken because we don't have yet a photo together. He is not really very fond to have his photos taken but he obliged when I asked him to pose with me. My hubby took our photo. Then I asked Steven and my hubby to pose so I can take their photo together. They don't have yet a photo together. Now we have souvenir photos with Steven, my hubby's youngest son.

The Beauty Of Fall Season

It's during fall season that the leaves of the trees change colors before they fall down. They change into different colors like orange, red, yellow and brown. It's really amazing how God created the four different seasons and we can see God's wonderful creation like the trees that change colors during this time of the year. As the poem say, "Poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree." We took these photos after we got off from the church last Sunday.

Lunch At Logan's

I'm happy to tell that we sold our house after more than a year that it's been in the market. My hubby and I have been praying to the good Lord that He will send us a buyer. We just trusted in God that He will answer our prayers in His time. There were lots of people who came and looked at our house. Some of them wanted to buy it but when we told them we want cash, they backed off. Most of them can't get a loan in the bank to pay us cash. It was really frustrating but we keep on praying and trusting God. He knows our hearts' desire, to sell our house and go back to the Philippines. God is really faithful. He gave us the buyer who can afford to pay us cash. Hubby and I were so happy and I was shedding tears of joy when we finally sold it. Hubby and I praised and worshiped God for answered prayers. We went to sign the papers last Thursday and the buyer handed to my hubby the check as payment for our house.

We deposited the check in the bank this morning. My hubby and I went to Logan's for lunch to celebrate. Actually, we used the gift card that was given to me as a gift during my citizenship celebration by one of the couples in our church. We ate to our heart's delight. The foods at Logan's were really good. My hubby ordered his favorite chicken friend steak with french fries and macaroni and cheese plus his tea. I ordered fried chicken tenders, mashed potatoes with gravy and sweet potato baked. The foods were really great and tasted so good. We love Logan's and it's one of our favorite restaurants now.

Here are the foods that I ordered. They're yummy!!!

Below is what my hubby ordered. They're yummy and it filled his tummy!!!

We were busy eating and enjoying our meal but we took time to pose for a photo as souvenir.

Swarovski Orders

My sister in the Philippines sent these second set of swarovski orders of the ladies in our church a couple of weeks ago. As I blogged here before, my sister is making swarovski jewelries and she's selling them. She had sent me a set of swarovski jewelries before and when the ladies in our church had seen it, they placed their orders. Swarovski stones are really captivating to the eyes because they sparkle like diamonds. She make the jewelries with 10 karat gold spacers. I just got another order from one of our ladies in the church and she ordered 3 colors, crystal, black and brown swarovski bracelets and earrings. I called my sister and told her about the 3rd set of orders. She's now making it and she will send it as soon as she's done.

Below is the order of Ms. Christy:

And here are the orders of Ms. Marsha, our pastor's wife:

Below is the swarovski jewelry set that my sister gave me as gifts. I was so thankful and overwhelmed with her thoughtfulness. She's so sweet. Thank you sis. I love it!

Still Crocheting

I just finished my 2nd scarf that I crocheted. Now I'm crocheting a bonnet that will match my 1st scarf that I crocheted. I hope I will finish it soon so I can wear it and match my scarf. After I will finish crocheting my bonnet, I will continue to crochet the bedspread. Below are the scarves that I crocheted and the bonnet that I'm still crocheting.

I'm wearing the scarf that I crocheted.

Crocheting Is One Of My Hobbies

When I'm not busy blogging or doing any house chores, I keep myself busy by crocheting. It's been a while that I haven't done it but since it's getting cold again, I suddenly remember to continue crocheting the bed spread that I started doing last year. Actually, I bought it unfinished in a garage sale and it's halfway through. I want to finish it so I can use it this coming winter. I learned to crochet when I was in my high school years. My mom taught me how to crochet. She also taught me how to do embroidery by hand. I learned a lot from her. My mom was also a good dressmaker. She sew my dresses when I was young.

I had crocheted table covers, throw pillow cases, blouses, centerpieces way back when I was still in the Philippines. Here in the US, I crocheted scarves which I use during winter. I also made some and gave it as gifts for my friends on their birthdays and they like it. I am currently crocheting another scarf for myself. I don't know when will I finish the bed spread because it's still less than halfway through. I hope to finish it soon.

And lovely are the blossoms
That are tended with great care,
By those who work unselfishly
To make the place more fair.
And, like the garden blossoms,
Friendship's flower grows more sweet
When watched and tended carefully
By those we know and meet.
And, if the seed of friendship
Is planted deep and true
And watched with understanding,
Friendship's flower will bloom for you.

I want to pass this to Eugene Rose, Grace and Meg.

My Hubby's Birthday

Today is my hubby's birthday. I cooked lunch for him this morning, baked chicken leg quarters, mashed potatoes and sauteed collard greens with ground beef. He ate it when he came home for lunch. When he got home from work this afternoon, he had with him a lot of birthday cards from the kids and teachers in the school where he works. He also got a 12" Decorated Chocolate Chip Cookie from Cathy, the school receptionist. He told me that Mary announced in the school this morning that it's his birthday today. He let me read all the birthday cards from the kids and teachers and I was so delighted. I've read how they love and appreciate my hubby in his workplace. I'm sure they gonna miss my hubby when he leaves and we'll go to the Philippines.

We had our supper at Golden Corral this evening. We used the gift card given to me by our church treasurer as a gift during my citizenship celebration. Golden Corral is our favorite restaurant here. I asked the waitress to take a photo of us while we were eating and I told her that it's my hubby's birthday. After a while, all the waitresses of Golden Corral came to our table, gave my hubby a cupcake and sang happy birthday to my hubby. We were so delighted of course. It was a very good celebration and hubby and I went home full and contented.

I Need Prayers

It's been a few weeks that I haven't been feeling well. It all started when I had the ringing in my ears called tinnitus. It was so loud that I can't sleep and it's all I hear in the quietness of the night. I developed insomnia and anxiety because of it. I am taking some pills for tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and the sound is not as bad as before. But until now it's hard for me to sleep and my body is getting weak because of it. I've been crying my heart to the Lord to heal me of this. Also I've been requesting a lot of people to pray for me. I'm also in our church prayer list. To my readers, please help me pray for a complete healing and fast recovery. Nothing is impossible with God and miracles happen when we pray.

I've Got Mail!

My US naturalization certificate arrived in the mail today. I submitted it when I applied for my passport. As I wrote in my previous post, my US passport arrived yesterday but I was disappointed that my naturalization certificate didn't come with it so I have to call the office which issued the passport. The lady told me it will be mailed separately in about two weeks. I was worried because I submitted the original copy. But today I was relieved because I got it in the mail. That was quick. Thank you Lord. I can see now our plans in going to the Philippines coming through. The answer to our prayers just came one by one. I will not write yet all the details. I will in due time. Praise the Lord for answered prayers. Lord you are so great and awesome. Great is thy faithfulness O Lord!

I Got My US Passport

I received my US passport in the mail today. I applied for it last October 16th and the clerk in the post office told me it will take 4 to 6 weeks before I will receive it. I'm glad that it only took 3 weeks and now I got it. I didn't find my US naturalization certificate in the envelope with my passport. I told my hubby that they didn't return my naturalization certificate. He said they will mail it back to me. I still wanted to verify how come they didn't return it with my passport. So what I did, I called the number I found in the enclosed pamphlet and asked them about my US naturalization certificate. The lady asked my name, SS number and date of birth and then she told me that they gonna mail back to me my US naturalization certificate separately in about 2 to 4 weeks. I told her I just wanted to know because I submitted to them the original copy of my naturalization certificate and I didn't make any copy because it was stated there that it's prohibited by law to make any copy of it. So I just have to wait for that to arrive in the mail.

I'm just so happy and excited because I have now my US passport and I can travel outside the country especially to my beloved country Philippines. I miss my family terribly. I hope to see them soon. I thank God for answered prayers. Words are not enough Lord to express my thanks and gratitude to You. You've been so good and faithful even though sometimes I think I don't deserve it. Your love for me is so great. I LOVE YOU LORD and I am thine!!!

Blogger Buddy Award

I would like to express gratitude to Cheth Studios for the effort to craft this blogger buddy award. I wanna thank Richelle for giving me this award.

I would like to pass this award to Norm, Ging, Selina and Grace.

At The Park

I asked my hubby to take me to the park last Saturday afternoon. I've been feelin' low and stressed due to lack of sleep so I decided to go out walking and feel the fresh air and sunshine. Lucy Park is just 5 minutes drive from our house. I like this park, it's so nice, clean, peaceful and serene. I went walking while my hubby waited on me in the van. He doesn't like to walk because he said his callous in his feet hurt. I took photos of the trees and the scenery around while walking. I love nature and when I'm in Lucy Park I feel that I'm so close to the Creator with the beauty of nature that surrounds me. There were some people at the park and I saw a couple who was having their wedding pictorial near the pond. The park was a good place for wedding photos with all the green scenery and the ducks in the pond. After I'm done walking, I called my hubby to come with me and sit at the swing. We sat there for maybe an hour just talking, looking at the trees and people who were there at the park. We talked about God, how He created this magnificent park with all the trees, birds and ducks. I love the feeling just being with my hubby out in the park, sitting on the swing and just appreciating the beauty of God's wonderful creation. Before we headed home, I asked my hubby to take me there again soon. He said he will.

Online Chat With My Family

I talked to my family in the Philippines last night using the webcam and microphone. My 2 siblings were there, my aunt, my 2 sisters-in-law, my brother-in-law, my 2 nephews and 2 nieces and also the pastor of our church there and his wife were at my sister's house last night. My aunt always asked me when are we going back there. How I wish we will be there this coming Christmas. I told them that Christmas celebration is happier there than here. We have more celebrations there during the Christmas season. My hubby talked to them too and he said the same. He wanted to go back there by the end of the year. If it's God's will, He will provide the means. We asked my family and the pastor to pray for our plans to go back there. They said they will pray for us. I wanna see my niece before she grew up. She's 3 months old now.

Pumpkin Patch

During our weekend getaway, we had the chance to see the pumpkin patch in Denison. I've seen some photos of pumpkin patch before but that was my first time to actually see it for real. I was just curious to see the different kinds of pumpkins that they have there. Well, they have different varieties of pumpkins there and maybe it would be good in making a pumpkin pie. I love pumpkin pie but I don't know know how to make it from scratch. I use the canned pumpkins from the store whenever I make one. At the pumpkin patch, they have the hayride there but I didn't want to ride because that's not new to me. We have those in the Philippines. We call it "kuliglig". Here are some photos taken there.
