Lunch With My Hubby's Co-Workers
My hubby had invited me yesterday to attend the Christmas lunch for the teachers and staff in the school where he works. It was my first time to go to his workplace and meet his co-workers. They were all so nice and I ate lunch with them. I got to see Mary and Cathy finally. Mary and I had been sending e-mails to each other and I talked to Cathy on the phone twice. They told me how they love my lumpia and they said they can eat a bunch of them. It just made me smile. I've seen the kids gave high five to my hubby. The kids were so cute. Hubby had been receiving gift cards from the kids in the school as Christmas gift. Some gave my hubby shower gel, granola and candy bars. My hubby said that the school where he works now is the best place he's ever worked in his life. All his co-workers are so nice and friendly and also the kids in that school are so cute. My hubby loves kids and he enjoyed working around them everyday.

Celebration at Golden Corral
They've been here in Texas for one and a half year to attend the Bible Translation class. They're so excited to go back and see their kids and their church members. Anyways, we had a good meal yesterday. I got to eat again my favorites meatloaf, chicken fried steak, grilled chicken and corn on the cob. I wish I can eat more but my belly get full easily. My mouth wanted to eat more but my belly said "stop, no more place". But I managed to eat a small slice of carrot cake and a cookie for my dessert. At night I didn't really eat because I was still full. Thanks to Pastor Yanie and Sis Modie for a delicious meal. We will miss you guys. Have a safe trip.

Touring California
We also visited one of our college friends in San Diego who is now in the navy and he took us to Sea World. All the entrance fees were taken care of by my friends but we treated them to lunch. So we saved money and we really had a good time there. Our navy friend wanted to take us to Tijuana, Mexico because it's just beyond the border of San Diego but I didn't have yet my green card that time so we didn't go. We just drove by and he showed us the border and across it is Tijuana. We had a grand time touring California from north to south. Hope to go back there someday.

Christmas Spirit
photos+087.jpg)
photos+086.jpg)
Hubby took these photos last night right after we came home from the Church's Christmas Banquet. I asked him to take photos in our front porch. I just want to capture in picture the Christmas decorations that we put in our porch. The pics didn't really turn out that good. It's kinda blurry but still I wanted to post it here. The battery of my digicam was exhausted that's why. I would just take other pics next time. Anyways, after we had put up our Christmas tree and also those lights and ornaments at our front porch, I can say that I really feel now the spirit of Christmas. Last night we got a gift from our church, a beautiful Christmas card with a Christmas songs CD. I just love listening to it.
Our Christmas Tree

Last Saturday my hubby was busy putting up our Christmas tree while I was here infront of my computer busy blogging. After he assembled the Christmas tree he put the ornaments and the lights. Then he called me and asked me to go and look. I was so thrilled to see our Christmas tree standing again with all the decorations. Hubby did a good job. The next day I just added the red bows as finishing touches of our Christmas tree. It made the tree look better. Our Christmas tree is 6 1/2 feet tall which I bought at Wal Mart a day after Christmas 4 years ago. It was on sale, 50% off when I bought it. This is the 3rd year that we used the same Christmas tree and I still like it. I plan to use it for as long as it's still in good shape. If you noticed in the picture, I was wearing my new blouse which I blogged previously.

Church's Christmas Banquet

We had a good Christmas banquet in our church tonight. Lots and lots of foods were brought in by the church members. There were ham, turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and a lot more that I can't remeber. Of course there were lots of desserts, different kinds of cakes, cookies, pies, etc. I brought lumpia and as expected they were all gone not too long. The dining hall was well decorated with garlands, Christmas lights, Christmas ornaments and Christmas trees. After eating, Bro. Hugh had preached a good message. We had such a good time tonight in the church. By the way, our Pastor and his wife arrived yesterday from a week vacation. It's good they're back safely and we missed them.

Thanks To God
Hello God,
I called tonight
To talk a little while
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial.
You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.
I thank you God for being home
And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a ! dime.
So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You too,
And I'll call again tomorrow!

Wear Those Shoes...

Hubby and I went to church tonight. For the first time I got the chance to wear my new tennis shoes. I told my hubby that it fits me me good and it doesn't hurt my feet. I like the inside cushion, it's soft to my feet. When we got back home after church I asked hubby to take photos of me. I did scrapbooking work for this pic. It was just a rush because it's already midnight but I think it turned out okay.

Prayer
Adoration: “Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy Name”
Confession: “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”
Thanksgiving: “Thine is the Kingdom & the Power & The Glory”
Supplication: “Give us this day our daily bread, lead us not into temptation, deliver us”
Jesus commanded us to pray without ceasing. Even Jesus prayed to His heavenly Father. Let's follow His example.

The Power Of Prayer
The list of my answered prayers is too long and I will relate the rest in my next posts. But here's an incident that happened 2 years ago. My husband had been coughing and coughing and almost out of breath. The cough doesn't stop and his face was turning red already. I was worried, I didn't know what to do. He said he can hardly breath. Then I went to get my Bible and read to him Psalm 121. After reading, I laid my hands on him and by faith I prayed to God to heal my hubby. I claimed Jesus' promise in the Bible found in Mark 11:24, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have them." I prayed intently and tears were running down my cheeks. Before I closed my prayer, I thanked God for healing George. That's faith, believing for the healing even it didn't happened yet. After I prayed, I told hubby that God has healed him and that he will be alright. I told him just believe. There was peace in my heart after I prayed and I went to eat my lunch. After a few hours my hubby was feeling okay and the cough subsided.
I asked him what caused his cough because before that he was alright and no cough. He told me that he took Celebrex, a prescription medicine with an empty stomach. I told him not to take those pills anymore and throw it away because it almost killed him. I remember that medicine has been so controversial in the past because of it's bad side effects. I just wonder why the FDA didn't pull it out from the market. I advised hubby to tell his doctor about the adverse effect of that pill. I was so thankful to Jesus for He is our Healer. He is the greatest physician and nothing is impossible to Him as long as you believe. Do you have any problem that you need God's help? Then go to Him in prayer my friend. Go to Jesus just as you are. Cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you. He love you that much that even while we were yet sinners, He died on the cross for our sins. What a great love! To my readers I can be your prayer partner if you need one. Just let me know and I'll pray for you. Miracles happen when we pray.

Nice Treat

Saturday afternoon we went to Robert and Shelly's house in Cleburne. They were working on their house because a pipe broked and wet their house. They were staying in a motel while the insurance is fixing their house. George and I spent Saturday night in their motel in Cleburne. We were supposed to go to Traders' Village in Grand Prairie Saturday afternoon but Shelly had to work until 3:00 PM so hubby decided that we will just go next time. Shelly is working now at Wal Mart, hubby's favorite store.
Robert and Shelly treated us for supper Saturday night. So five of us went to eat out, Robert, Shelly, Josh, hubby and me. They wanted to take us to Montana Grill in Grandbury because they have a huge chicken fried steak there but that restaurant was full of people. Chicken fried steak is hubby's favorite. We ended up eating in El Chico, a mexican restaurant in Grandbury. I ordered Poblano Chimichanga with Mexican rice and beans. It was good and yummy. Hubby ordered his favorite chicken fried steak of course. Well, after the main course, I was already full. No more room for dessert. Hubby ordered apple pie, Josh got cheesecake and Robert and Shelly got chocolate cake. I just tasted hubby's apple pie, it's too sweet for me. Hubby said it's good and he like it. After the meal, we were all so full, thanks to the Brownlees. We headed to Wal Mart and walked it off.

Great Is Our God
Then when I was in my college years, the Lord had began to deal with me. My great aunt had been inviting me to go to church with her but I always had an alibi not to go. Then I asked her to sew a blouse and dress for me because she was a dressmaker. She didn’t want to charge me but she just wanted me to go to church with her on Sunday so I went with her. I remember that I was even ashamed to carry my Bible. I went there a few times but my heart was hardened and not yet ready at that time to receive Jesus in my life. I just went there just to return the favor that my great aunt did for me. It was a few years that I went there on and off. Then they had this revival and I attended it and that was December 1987. I was touched by the message of the preacher and during the invitation, the Holy Spirit convicted me to go to the altar. My heart was pounding, then I walked my way in front of the altar. I knelt down and right there and then, I repented of my sins and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was there at that moment that I realized that even though I have all the talent, intelligence, education and achievements in life, they are all void and meaningless if I don’t have Jesus in my heart. I realized that everything here on earth is just temporal and life without Jesus is void and empty. I thank God for He has waited on me. I was lost and He found me.
There has been a lot of trials and temptations in my life but I thank God because He used those trials to transform me from being a baby Christian to a mature Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Being a Christian doesn’t mean that I will be free from all these things. The Scriptures tell us in 1 Cor. 10:13 that God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation, will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Looking back now with all the trials I’ve been through, I’m amazed that God has been so faithful to carry me through. His grace is sufficient for me, because it’s when I am weak that I am strong because He is my strength. There were also times that I committed mistakes and sinned because as long as we are in this human flesh we tend to commit sin but I went to God and ask His forgiveness. The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Our God is a loving God but he hates S-I-N. I thank God for He has given Jesus to die on the cross for my sins so I will be reconciled with Him.
I thank God for all the trials in my life because it increased my faith in Him. I thank God for He has changed me, my outlook and priorities in life. I thank God for the joy of my salvation. I thank God for I know that I’ll be with Him in heaven someday where there will be no more trials, no more sickness and no more tears. The Lord ain’t done with me yet. I believe He has more plans in my life and I asked Him to use me and my hubby to share the gospel to the lost. The Lord knows our hearts’ desire. We want to magnify the name of the Lord and serve Him all the days of our lives. Nothing can compare with the joy and peace that comes in serving God. God is awesome! God is great! No one else like Him.

Looking Back...
Then finally we boarded the plane that will take us to Texas. It was a very long trip and the flight was not as smooth as the previous one. We encountered a lot of turbulence during the flight. At first I got so nervous, it feels like there was an earthquake inside the plane, lol! But after a while I got used to it and I got to enjoy the trip. The stewardess had served good foods and hubby and I enjoyed it. I looked around the other passengers and some of them were sound asleep and some even laid down on the vacant seats. I wonder how they managed to sleep inside the plane. Maybe some of them travel by plane often and they got used to flying. But me, that was my first time and I can't sleep while flying. Besides I got a lot of things in my head like what will my life be like in the US and I thought of my family that I left in the Philippines. Sure thing I gonna miss them.
Then after long hours of flying we were finally in the US territory. I was so excited to take a glimpse of how the US look like so I asked my hubby to exchange seat with me so I can sit by the window. I took a peek outside and all I've seen were trees and buildings. When we finally landed and got our baggage, hubby and I were in the lobby of DFW airport and there we were met by his 2 lovely daughters. I was glad to see them, my new family here. While we were on our way to the house I just kept looking around. I said to myself, so this is it, this is USA...my home for the last 4 years and God's willing, for more years to come. I thank the Lord for bringing me here.

5th Wedding Anniversary Celebration
Anyway, while I was cooking the pancit, Malou came by and she helped me mixed the pancit and the vegetables together. The noodles were so sticky because my husband bought rice noodles made in Thailand. I asked him to buy me rice noodles which is made in the Philippines and I thought he knows how it looks like but when he came home, he bought a different kind. It tasted good though, only it was sticky. In fairness, the foods I cooked were all good according to my husband. He ate a lot. We didn't even have room for the butter pecan ice cream that he bought. I didn't invite others because I thought I would not be able to cook much. It's good Malou came by, she didn't know that it's our anniversary today. I just asked her yesterday to come today because I'll be cooking. We invited James to come for supper and he came after we ate and Malou had already left. He got off late tonight and he came here straight from work in his navy uniform. We had a good time eating and I gave Malou and James foods to take home. George and I give thanks to the Lord for another wedding anniversary that He gave us. Every good and perfect gift comes from above.

Our Anniversary...
So everything was rushed but I thank God that we had a good wedding. Our wedding was well attended especially during the reception. George was surprised to see all the people who came to eat. He said that people were coming out from wood works meaning people were coming from everywhere, lol! The reception was catered and according to the caterer, almost 500 plates were used in the reception. So that's the number of people who came to eat in our wedding celebration. Lot's of people huh! I was really surprised but knowing the people in our town, they come and gatecrash though they're not invited especially they knew that an American is getting married to a filipina. George and I really didn't mind. Maybe some of them, that's the only time that they got a decent meal. It's a good thing that despite the fact that many people came, there were still lots of leftover foods so we gave some to my kinfolks and neighbors. It's good to reminisce the past, it brought back good memories.
Now 5 years had passed by so swiftly. There were ups and downs we encountered along the way, but with God on our side we were able to handle them gracefully. George and I are looking forward to many years to come and spend the rest of our lives together with God in the center of our lives. We're praying to God to use us to further His kingdom and that we would like to go back in the Philippines. We know that God is faithful and we believe that He shall give us the desires our hearts in His perfect time.
